Motorola Moto G Plus - Unlocked Phone - Retail Packaging - White

This phone has everything you need. I have just stepped down off of the high steps of the Apple kingdom using the glorious, flagship iPhone 6 Plus (it was the flagship at the time) and never thought I would be okay leaving iMessage, Find My iPhone, cloud backup etc. But let me tell you, I MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE. I broke my phone a couple of weeks ago and immediately sought to replace it with the latest and greatest iPhone avail. Being a hardcore Apple believer and user (I have the Macbook Pro and iPad Pro) I went immediately to the nearest apple store/cell phone store and was astonished when I learned that the cheapest iPhone 7 plus was $800+! I was shocked. I immediately refused to buy into the 'simple' monthly 0% interest phone plan that increases my already staggering $100+ phone bill an additonal $34/mo, and started doing something I had never thought I would do, check out the androids. After a long withdraw process, and trying out multiple androids I finally settled on this Moto G Plus (same screen size as the iPhone 6plus) 64gb with 4gb of ram. Let me tell you, for the price ($229 right now) you absolutely cannot beat the value of this phone. I run multiple apps simultaneously and have no issues at all. I just came from the very fast iPhone 6 plus, and haven't missed a thing (minus of course iMessage and FaceTime). I did originally buy the 16gb version of this phone which only came with 2gb of ram and still didn't have any issues with the exception of internal memory running out of space. For some reason, even after purchasing a 128GB SD card, and formatting for internal memory use, all the apps never really counted that extra space. I still found myself deleting apps. If you are coming from an iPhone, you'll never look back. This is a fantastic phone period, let alone for the cheap price. I currently am a Verizon customer and this phone is completely compatible with CDMA. If you're coming from an iPhone to the Android Moto G4 Plus, here are some tips to mimic the apps and features you will inevitably miss. First off everything is Google based. So if you loved the iCloud backing everything up, and watching over everything with sync abilities and all you will fit right in. Google is very intuitive and offers alot of the same features, if not even more. Calendar is far better than the iCal apple offers. FaceTime- Use google hangouts (even has better video call quality) Find My iPhone- Life360- Great for the family, tracks the phone, gives all information of where it is, and where it has been. Also has message and notification features. iCalendar- Googles Cal app blows it away Apple Maps- Google Maps, or Waze. (Waze is an awesome app) Apple Mail- Gmail is your main app iTunes- Google play (syncs all music to your google account) iMessage- Apple Message (third party app) is almost exactly the same interface that your use to, or simply stick with Google Message. (have fun with the new swift predictive text feature) Flashlight- Simply swipe from the top of your screen down to pull up that quick menu iOS screen- Nova Launcher is very familiar and works great. Download Nova Launcher in the google play store. Apple Store- Google Play Thats just to name a few. This phone also has the fingerprint sensor so you can still use all the wonderful security and unlock features your old iPhone came with too. Charging is extremely quick and lasts a long time. Stick with this phone. The 64gb with the 4gb of ram is perfect!

Over 2-1/2 Years Update! Bought 10/16 and is now 5/19. I am more and more pleased. Stability is excellent, must have been an Update. Currently running Android 7.0. Screen, Battery Life/Charging/Speed are all like new. Rest of family getting new phones (Moto X 4th Gen), but I just have no need to. Because of them. I figured I would see when I bought mine. So glad I bought this! 1 YEAR UPDATE: Still very pleased. I had a hangup with a major update, but found key combination online to reboot and it all settled out in an hour. Aside from that, performance has been first rate. Love the screen size, resolution, storage and Ram. Avg Ram use is 1.6- gb of 4 GB Fingerprint reader works well, makes it very convenient. For my purchase price of $299, it can't be beat. Compares favorably with other "locked" phones selling for several hundred more. All I did to get this working when it was bought, was transfer my SIM. I'll br back to the MOTO G Series when i need another phone. If there is one feature I miss from my previous phone (LG G2 or G4) it's an IR Blaster, as I do lots of A/V equipment, but that is a rare feature everywhere. The MOTO G5+ is on sale for about $225 and the G6 is out now or will be in a matter of days. The 24 Hour Review: Loving the 64 GB + 4 GB Ram for just $299. Excellent quality, nothing second rate about fit or finish or feel. Nice buttons, beautiful screen resolution and color, easy to use all around. Performance seems better than my LG G2 16GB+2GB Ram I was using (touch screen was getting flaky. $650 Phone bought on closeout at T-Mobile for about $450 about 2-1/2 years ago btw). i like the minimalist approach to software and OS this offers. OS is just fine. I did all my setup on Wi-Fi. Downloaded dozens of Apps and Databases i use on a daily basis. No issues at all. Inserted my MicroSIM (Glad it was same size, saved time effort and money for me). Instantly had service! T-Mobile. Best call quality I've ever had as well. Real clear. I transferred an unneeded 64 GB MiroSDHX for my Docs and Music. had to press the Charging Icon to see other options, and set to MTP. Transferred 30 GB via USB 2.0 (a Card Reader would have saved time!) and all seems well. best phone I ever had. I don't need NFC, would have liked IR for a TV Remote as i do a lot of A/V work, but I have no disappointments with this $299 Smartphone. It is a great value. P.S. I've read it supports 128 GB Card, and I've read it supports 256 GB as well. I do not know for sure. I have a TOTAL of 128 right now and will not need to expand anytime soon.

My experience with Motorola has been a total disaster. Period. I started as a Motorola consumer about 4 years ago when I bought the Moto G Ferrari Edition. I thought it was a good, stable phone, with very decent photos and quite good features in relation to its price. That phone (Moto G) was stolen and since then I decided to try some other brands (Samsung, HTC). In May of 2017 I bought the Moto G Plus (4th Gen.) Unlocked - White - 64GB - U.S. Warranty through amazon.com. The phone felt powerful and reliable. Until after 4 months the device started to reset itself, shut itself off and go on for no apparent reason. I never let it fall, nor had incidents with liquids or anything like that. Here the nightmare began. After 6 or 7 calls to Motorola customer service, all his answers were "do it yourself". Which seemed like an insult to customers, but at the same time I thought that maybe they had had the same problem with many phones and the solution was simple. Motorola has a web page with video tutorials on how to try to solve the problems of your phone yourself. I saw all the "do it yourself" videos and made all kinds of adjustments: factory reset, application deletion, safe mode, download new software, previous software, install nothing and leave it "out of the box" calibrate the battery, use a different charger. I did everything humanly possible except to disarm the phone. Nothing worked. And after more than 10 hours of my time in repairs and after trying to explain to the customer service operators that nothing worked, they decided to tell me to return the device and send me a "replacement device" and a prepaid sticker to send the damaged device through FedEx. This replacement device could be new or repaired. YES A REPAIRED PHONE!!!! I paid $ 25 and secured a deposit of $ 250 so that they could send me my new phone without needing to stay without a phone (I could keep my old phone while they sent me the replacement phone and free the $250 when they get the damaged phone). The replacement phone came to my hands 2 weeks after the repair request. Yes 2 WEEKS !! And to top it off, the replacement phone came out broken!!! The camera does not work under any application. It is as if the camera is not connected inside the phone. After waiting 2 weeks, paying $25 for shipping, and having $250 on hold in my credit card (until I shipped the damaged phone), I ended up getting a device that was poorly repaired and got it broken! Who can send a DAMAGED replacement device? Can not they take a moment to check a device that comes from being repaired? Again I call Motorola customer service, I explain that I can not send the damaged device because they did not include the prepaid label and I do not know the address where I should send it, and that the replacement device was damaged! The 1st response was: do it yourself, uninstall all the apps and do a factory reset. Why should I repair a phone that comes from the factory? Why should I do that if the camera did not work from the moment I took the phone out of the box? Then I get a supervisor and his response as a customer service representative can only be described as a customer slap, an insult without comparison: "Sir, you will have to pay another $25 and secure another $250 to send you a new replacement device, the damaged device we sent you” WHAAAT???? The account so far is as follows: I paid $229.99 for the 1st device, then $25 for shipping and $250 for the damaged replacement device, and Motorola intends for me to pay $25 more and secure an additional $250 to send me another replacement device for repair their mistake. It would be $279.99 in payments and $500 in deposits if I agree!!! IT'S CRAZY!!! Do not they care about customer satisfaction? Do not they care that they sent a piece of crap to the same client 2 TIMES? I still do not answer from Motorola, I still have paid $279.99 and $250 on hold in my credit card, I still have two phones damaged and a deep disappointment for a company that had a seat of honor. My opinion after this: Motorola phones do not work and Motorola customer service sucks! My recommendation: DO NOT BUY THE MOTOROLA CRAP! NEVER EVER!

Have had the phone for about a week. Upgraded from an AT&T branded Samsung Galaxy S4. I will try to be as objective as possible in the hopes of providing information that may benefit other potential buyers. First, I am rating this phone 4 stars based on a the fact that I ordered one, had an issue with it, sent it back, ordered another one and it has been flawless for a week. I absolutely think the phone is an excellent bargain. Pro's - Display, both size and resolution. - Bigger than my S4. Colors are bright and vibrant. No complaints. Storage. - S4 had 16 GB device memory and a 32 GB mSD expansion card. I opted for the G4 Plus with 64 GB device memory. May add mSD card later if needed or wanted. RAM - 4GB. Should be more than enough for my needs. Camera - Really am enjoying the camera on this phone. It is a big improvement over my S4 Unlocked - Just took the SIM card out of my S4 and put it in the G4 Plus and viola, I had a new phone. (BTW, the first G4 Plus I received would not recognize my AT&T SIM. Sent it back with no issues. Full refund. Kudos to Amazon for a painless return) (**because it is unlocked it does not come preloaded with a lot of carrier applications** - big positive in my book. More storage for my preferred applications) Cons - Had to return the first handset. A little disappointed in that. However, the return was easy and the replacement unit has been flawless. Processor - The SnapDragon 617 processor is not quite up to par with the top handsets, but I've seen no issues with the limited applications that I like to use. Of course, I do not run processor intensive applications, mostly music, camera, and messaging applications. No Nougat yet. Was hoping to have it installed rather soon. Not yet. Still, Android 6.0.1 is an upgrade from the 5.0.1 on my S4. Overall impressions - Very pleased with the purchase. The price point is very attractive and the fact that this unit is supposed to receive the Nougat update is encouraging. Performance is solid, though not up to par with top of the line units (i.e. iPhone 7, Pixel, Galaxy S7). Still, for the price it feels like a bargain. Love the fact it is unlocked. Can move it to any carrier I choose.

{(((1 year update, well 11 months))) : this moto g4 plus is still going strong. no problems with it to report, still charges fast and holds a charge all day. } Ok so I've had this Moto G4 Plus (64GB storage with 4GB RAM) for 24 hours, and so this Isn't going to be a extensive review, just some things I've noticed... First of all, the build and feel of the phone is very good, not super premium like some $600 + phones, but its still very good. the fit is tight and uniform, no gaps around the screen or back cover or anything. the back cover snaps on and off without problems. the phone looks to be very well made. The android system takes up almost 10GB of storage, leaving the user with about 54.5 GB. CPU-Z shows there is 3643 MB of RAM The buttons for power and volume feel great, make a nice little clicky feel when you push them, and the power button is textured for an easy way to feel the difference between them. the finger print scanner, is very useful, (although it doesn't serve as a button for anything) it wakes the phone up and unlocks it super fast. I would estimate about 1/4 of a second or faster. So far finger print scanner is great, way better than i expected. The screen looks great, full HD 1080P, colors have a warm look to them , the whites are not as blue looking as my Samsung phones screen. IT is a full 5.5 inch display, and yes the buttons are on screen, But can go away in certain apps, to give you the full screen to use, like when watching videos for instance. the sound is very good, although it only has one front facing speaker at the top. it is loud and clear. Call quality has been excellent, and when calling an iphone 6, about two or three feet away, with both phones on speaker. the Moto G4 Plus had no signs of feedback, or echoing, indicating it does an excellent job of noise cancellation. the iphone 6 however sounded like a horror movie. The UI (user interface) is slick and basic android. fast and responsive. the Moto gestures work well as far as the double twist for camera, and the double chop for flashlight. I have not tested the others yet. Supposedly this phone is Water and dust resistant, but i will not be testing that, for obvious reasons. The camera seems to be great so far, low light photos look pretty good, and there is even a pro mode that lets you tweak all the aspects of the camera. if you hold down the shoot button, it takes photos in rapid succession, pretty cool feature. This phone also lets you record slow motion videos which is fun. Some of the cons of this phone i can think of, are: No NFC, not a big deal to me personally, because I never plan on using android pay anytime soon at least, and I never bump my phone to share stuff with other people. I've had NFC on past phones for years, and never used it, except to try it out to see if it worked. No Magnetometer / Compass. I'm not sure of the full implications of not having a compass are, but GPS and navigation still work, because they rely on the GPS sensors, this phone also uses GLONASS, which is just the Russian version of the United states GPS system, twice as many satellites, means twice the reliability, and more accurate and faster positioning. Since there is no Compass, google sky map will not work correctly, which is big bummer for me. ON THE OVER HEATING ISSUE: I live in south Texas, and tested this phone outside with the camera app, taking dozens of photos and using CPU-Z i never noticed temps over 55 C on any of the sensors, most were about 50 C or below. also the camera app never started lagging and stuttering. I will update this review if anything changes, and after a month or two when i have spent more time with the phone. EDIT: after using this phone for 4 days now. I bumped it from a 4 to a 5 star. The battery life is very good. And easily last all day. In fact I've had the phone with me at work now since 7 am this morning, using it off and on pretty often. It is now 2:30 pm and I still have 70% left. Pretty impressive. The screen looks great in full sun with full brightness setting, no problems at all. The more I use this phone the more I like it.

This is my 4th budget Moto smartphone. I've owned and used the Moto g1 as well as the 1st and 2nd gen Moto E. The Moto G4 is far superior to all of those but it doesn't have the same magic that the original Moto G had. I really think that Google took over Motorola and made the Moto G1 with the main intention of making the company more appealing to sell. Google sold Motorola for a very good profit to Lenovo shortly after the great success of the Moto G. I still have my Moto G1 and very much cherish that phone for it's great features and excellent build quality. I purchased the Moto G4 with 64gig hd and 4 gig of RAM so that I wouldn't need to worry about space for my apps. Converting micro SD cards as internal storage in Marshmellow doesn't work as well as it should. Apps need to be supported for this feature and only a handful in the app store seem to be. Plus only very high speed memory cards will work properly. All three of my class 10 cards by PNY, Sandisk, and Lexar get a warning stating that they are too slow when I try to make them part of the internal storage. The screen is sharp although I prefer the look of the 5.5 inch 1080p IPS screen on the iPhone 6plus. I don't know what it is but the screen on the Moto G just doesn't have the same vibrancy or quality. Still, the Motor G4 screen is plenty bright and nice to look at. The front facing speaker sounds great and buttons feel mostly responsive when pressed. The fingerprint scanner works better than any other phone I've tried. Turbo charging is also a great feature that I couldn't live without especially since I usually have to charge the Moto G4 in the afternoon to comfortably get through the evening. I've been getting about 4 hours of screen on time between charges. The camera takes decent pictures and focuses quickly. Most everything on this phone is really nice and snappy. NFC might be a feature some will miss, not me though. Even though to me the Moto G4 doesn't make me giddy like the orifinal Moto G, my opninion is that you can't go wrong with this purchase. The Moto G4 really is a good phone for someone who needs a device that works well, has the important premium features, and doesn't break the bank.

...but I guess I shouldn't have! This is my very first smartphone. I've had $20 "dummy" phones over the past 10 years that have, in general, worked very well. With those phones, the phone and messaging capabilities were excellent! I will state that the picture-taking functions of these phones were mediocre at best but, considering that they were $20 phones, well... Overall, this phone is just good...barely. Not great...sorry but, DEFINITELY NOT great! Now that I've had this phone for about 6 weeks, here are my pros and cons on it: Pros: 1) Camera is very good! I really like the pictures I've taken with it so far! Clarity and color are great! One of the definite pluses of this phone. 2) I received this with Android Marshmallow 6.1 (?) on it, then was immediately upgraded to Nougat 7.0. Very cool! 3) When I'm need to use Google Chrome for web, the websites come up clear-as-day without issues. 4) I do like the "Messages" function being separate from the phone; some folks won't necessarily like this but, for me, it works. 5) Excellent turbo-charger! I do get excellent battery function within 15-30 minutes of charging. I'm used to charging my phone overnight anyway so, when the phone goes nearly dead at the end of a day, that doesn't really phase me. It's the nature of the beast. Cons: 1) I'm actually HATING the phone functionality! Why can't the phone just show up when I open the screen? I have to semi-search for the phone keypad in order to either dial a number or to answer a call! Maybe this is how smartphones are supposed to work now but, that's a definite turn-off for me! 2) Another phone issue I can't deal with is having to dial area codes with phone numbers...ALL THE TIME!!! Yes, even with local phone numbers!!!! I NEVER did this with any of my previous phones! I'm not entirely sure if this has to do with the phone itself or with my phone service provider (I chose Cricket Wireless since I needed a flat-fee service). All I can say is that I absolutely HATE this!!! TIME IS MONEY and, considering that I make and take a lot of phone calls every day, quite a few phone of them being local calls, this is WASTING TIME!!! Also, please don't recommend saving the phone numbers...my businesses' and/or clients' numbers change on a frequent basis! 3) Pressing buttons to open/move apps/functions can be a bit difficult. Sometimes, I have to really press hard on the screen to get things to open, move and/or work. 4) I have to agree with most of the posters who wrote that the radio speaker(s) give off a "tinny" sound. Not only that but, whenever I plug in my headphones, the pin doesn't stay in the phone! It almost always slips out! That becomes annoying real fast, especially when one isn't sitting still somewhere! 5) I have about 500 songs on my home computer that I wanted to download onto this phone's MP3 but, this phone only took the songs that I downloaded from music websites (like Amazon music). I have a slew of music from CDs that I purchased over the years that for some strange reason, this phone's MP3 won't take...What??!!! 6) Good thing I didn't get rid of my 6-year old MP3 player! The music that DID download onto the phone's MP3 sounds terrible! I can hardly hear the background sound of most songs! Believe it or not, I bought this phone more for the actual phone and music capabilities and both of these functions need dramatic improvements in my eyes! I was thinking that for its cost, if the basics (phone and MP3) worked well, that would be fine with me. Accessing the web was, and is still, secondary for my needs! If one needs a product like this for web services, sure! Have at it! If you need it for the basics...sorry. You might have to do like me and keep and use what you already have. I'm seriously thinking about going back to my old phone, especially since I'm already still using my old MP3 player because I can't deal with this phone's player!

I have been using my G4+ for almost two months with Republic Wireless, and it been almost flawless (no phone is flawless, IMO). This feels like a high end phone to me. It reminds me of my former Samsung Galaxy S3 although it is larger and more modern. Its value for price is great! - even at full retail (although I was fortunate to get mine on sale). Pros: beautiful display, slim, light for its size, generous amount of RAM and flash memory, great camera (much better than my S3), pleasant sounding speakers (great to playing podcasts/streaming music out loud), responsive fingerprint reader, not bloatware(!). Cons: delicate SIM card slot*, non-replaceable battery (actually can be replaced by a skilled technician), no Nougat upgrade (yet, but remaining hopeful), it has spontaneously rebooted once or twice (all of my previous phones (Droid X2, Galaxy S3, Moto e2) all also had the occasional hiccup, too, though. *I had to exchange the first G4+ I received because upon removing the SIM card tray, it hooked a tiny metal contact/pin that was not laying flat on the circuit board, and the contact popped out with the tray. I tried putting in my SIM card anyway, but the phone did not recognize the SIM card. As always, Amazon.com was wonderful about processing the exchange, the the replacement's SIM tray ejected with no problems. If I could, I would deduct 1/2 star from the rating for this issue. If you're buying a G4, slide out the SIM tray gingerly and watch the metal pins underneath don't get snagged on the tray. Before purchasing this phone, my biggest concern was some people reporting their G4+s were getting hot when running games, shooting video, or other CPU-taxing activities. I am happy to say that even playing a game for 15+ minutes non-stop, my G4+ gets no more than moderately warm. I only took note since since some people had reported problems.
