best kick drum mic Period !
i seen the reviews, i figured i could use a backup mic in case my shure 52 beta breaks. well, im sold on the e602. i use this one every time now, clearly a difference in cleaner lows, punchy, responsive, overall sound.

Good value. Pretty accurate. Worth the money.
Its a good mic on my bass cabinet but I do agree with other reviewers in that it is a bit bright. However, it doesn't require alot of eq to get it to sound exactly like the tone that's coming out of your amp. I ran it into a pro mpa preamp and then to a compressor but skipped the eq on my rack and went straight into my multitrack. I was able to get my tone right where I wanted it making adjustments on the amp. I found it was slightly different from other mics in that I got the most accurate tone almost dead center to the dust cap and at least 6 inches away from the grill cloth. Worth the money for sure.

Go to kick mic!
This kick drum mic sounds 'just right' out of the box - it has a very pleasing character. I much prefer it to the Shure Beta 52 and AKG D112, especially when placed outside the drum that is not ported. I only wish that the stand adapter threads were brass, but it is an acceptable tradeoff given the affordable price.

Favorite kick drum mic
If I have to mic a kick drum with only 1 mic and don't have an outside kick/sub kick mic, this is my go-to. You can get both punch and body and it's not crazy scooped or pre-EQ'd like a D6.

Good drum mike
Good Mike for kick drum or Cajon. Nor as good a shure beta 52, but does cost as much either

Incredibly great sounding kick mic.
Love it! I had no idea what a dedicated bass drum mic could do. I've tried expensive and great condenser and dynamic mics, but could not get a usable kick sound.. With no eq, this thing sounds perfect. Huge amounts of sub and lows, with the perfect amount of upper mid and treble edge to make those lows make sense. I think it's accurately capturing my bass drum sound, something a regular mic just cannot do, no matter how you try to eq it. This one purchase improved my recordings crazily, it's so important. Put mine inside, aimed at the beater, about 6" away. Captures an incredible kick sound all by itself. Can't compare it to the akg, but I have to say I wouldn't trade this sennheiser ever, it's perfect.

Great for the price
These sound really nice inside bass drums. Compared to Audix D6 they have a little more high end frequencies and I'd say the bottom end is similar. It's almost plug-and-play as there's no need to wrestle with it during mixing. For those who want a punchy sound out of the box, this fits the bill. If you put some compression, a mild enveloper and almost zero EQ, you'll have a killer sounding bass drum for rock and metal. I'll keep my D6 mics as backups for now. They both sound good for what they are intended to.
