10/10 once again for Ovalware
Last year my girlfriend opened my eyes to pour-over coffee, and I purchased the Ovalware RJ3 Drip Kettle. The little thing has been fantastic for me. Not only has it do I get amazing coffee in the morning, pour-over coffee has become a really peaceful addition to my morning routine. ANYWAYS getting back on the point. Noticed that Ovalware released a steel filter (Amazon recommendations.. go figure), so I snatched it up since I was so pleased with my drip kettle. Once again, 10/10 product from Ovalware, I love my new filter, and hopefully I'll never have to deal with the annoying disposable filters any longer!. Don't have another stainless steel coffee filter to compare it to, but been really pleased with the construction and functionality of the stainless steel filter so far: 1. Job well done: Don't know what else to say, except that this filter gets the job done! My coffee is still as smooth as ever. The stainless steel doesn't affect the taste of the coffee at all. The mesh is extremely fine and keeps out any coffee grinds from seeping into the coffee. The main difference between this product and a typical disposable filter is that I don't need to deal with tossing a droopy and dripping filter again... this filter feels really durable and I don't expect I will need to replace it any time soon. Another 10/10 product from Ovalware. 2. Easy to clean: The one thing that worried me before I purchased, was whether or not I would actually be able to clean the coffee grinds from the small mesh holes in the steel filter. Needless to say, I worried for nothing because cleaning has been extremely easy! All I have to do is transfer my filter over the sink, flip it around and all the coffee grinds pretty much fall out by themselves in one large clump. I keep it flipped over and with a quick rinse and wipe, my filter is as good as new and ready for the next morning. Don't really know the functionality for the silicon rim, but it helps keeps my filter from sliding around when I flip it over to air dry! - Quick tip from a previous reviewer: if you have hard water (which I do at my place), rinse the filter out couple weeks, and it will keep your filter from accumulating any kinds of residue. 3. Reusable and green: Wanted to add a 3rd point but cant think of anything else. Fantastic reusable product. Don't plan on replacing this one anytime soon! Highly recommended. Cheers! All things considered, I am genuinely surprised there weren't that many reviews for this product. It is a hands down, solid buy. Highly recommend this product for all coffee enthusiasts!

New design is great!
I bought the newly redesigned version of this filter on 1/20/18 and have used it almost daily for the last 2.5 months. The redesign increased the size of the outside holes in response to complaints that the filter became clogged over time. In my experience, the filter has shown no signs of clogging -- no slowing of water flow. These types of filters will clog if not properly cared for, but in 2.5 months I've not needed to decalcify it. I haven't run it through the dishwasher. I haven't even used soap on it. All I've done is immediately rinse it and then scrub it with a soft-bristled veggie brush under running hot water. Then I dry it with a tea towel. I do use filtered water, so your mileage may vary. I use a medium-fine grind and have never had any coffee particles pass through into my brewed coffee. I find the flow rate to be just about perfect for pour-overs. I don't understand complaints that the flow rate is too fast. Maybe some users don't understand this filter is meant to be used for a slow pour brew. If you don't know how to do a slow pour, there are lots of demos on YouTube. I previously used a Swiss Gold filter, which worked well, but I like the Ovalware RJ3 better. There is no plastic anywhere in this filter. There's a silicone ring around the top and the filter itself is all stainless steel. I was concerned that there might be some metallic taste to the coffee, but I haven't experienced that at all. (I roast my own coffee and I'm pretty particular about what I drink.) It appears to me that all the negative reviews for this filter either pertain to the old design or reflect a lack of understanding regarding proper use of the filter. I cannot find anything to criticize about the redesigned filter. It works perfectly, is easy to use and care for, and is a bargain for $20. I enthusiastically recommend it.

This is a functional, common sense product.
Ovalware stainless steel coffee filter is an excellent product โ easy to use, store, and clean. Just as important, it will save the constant cost of those beautiful paper filters as well as reduce paper waste in landfills and harmful chemicals used in the manufacturing process.

Exactly what I was hoping for.
I'm writing this the day I received it and I've only used it twice so this is just based on first impressions, but I spent an eternity trying to figure out which metal filter to buy and I finally settled on this one. I wanted to make sure to write a review for anyone else struggling through the same process. I really wanted something that could replace my paper filters without being low quality, making a bad cup, or being too much of a pain to deal with. Highlights: -This fits perfectly in my Hario V60 -The rubber ring is removable, which is great because I don't need it. But it's a very nice ring that fits very snuggly. I could always put it back on if I change my mind. -The mesh is VERY fine and nothing seems to get through. There's no sludge in the bottom of my cup. -The seams are very smooth and everything feels high quality. This is exactly what I would expect for the money. I have no complaints. It seems like something that will last for years. -It's very easy to clean. I don't know if it will get harder to clean over time (it seems like it might) but it's currently very easy. -My coffee tastes great! I was worried it would impact the taste, but this is better than my french press. I was worried I wouldn't like it as much as my hario paper filters but it still makes a very good cup of coffee. Negatives -It does seem to drain slightly faster than the hario paper filters, but this doesn't effect taste. My coffee doesn't seem any weaker, but I figured it was worth mentioning. I'm a little worried I'm getting less caffeine per cup but I can't tell by taste. -I think this will require a little extra tlc to get clean every week or two. I currently can't speak to how much of a pain this will be. It's hard to tell how much the oils and the finest grounds are going to want to stick to this over time. (I have a cleaning powder, I think Cafiza, that will hopefully make the job easier.) But it's coming clean pretty effortlessly right now. I'll definitely have to come back once I've been using it for awhile and let you know if it holds up, but I don't have any complaints yet. It's exactly what I was hoping for. I chose this in part because it was one of the few filters I saw that has a website. I figured that was a good sign because so many things on amazon are from brands that exist only here and show up looking nothing like the product photo. What you see is exactly what you get and it's sold by the manufacture. It all seems very legit. If my filter's still going strong after a few months I'll probably buy a second one to have as a back up.

Don't bother with Ovalware stock up on Chemex filters
So I purchased this filter when I realized I would run out of Chemex filters before we ran out of Pandemic and the local small business that I usually buy them from would be closed for the duration. The filter works well but a Chemex filter makes a slightly better tasting pot of coffee. It is easy to clean and probably is slightly faster to make a full Chemex than a paper filter is. My gripe is with the manufacturer Ovalware. They sent me a survey with the offer of a 20% off coupon code if I filled it out. "you will get a 20% OFF coupon for your next purchase with us!" What they don't tell you up front is the coupon is only good for 3 days. Very parsminous of them. 20% off only if you make a purchase in 3 days. For my next pandemic I think I will stock up on Chemex filters,

Exactly what I wanted and needed
I have a combo French press / pour through. Not sold anymore. Close the valve to the upper section, pour water into the upper section after spooning in coffee into a paper filter, let it steep like a French press, open the valve and it comes out into your coffee cup like a pour through. My biggest issue is the paper filter takes away a lot of the flavor and of course, all the trees..... This helps tremendously! It acts like a paper filter only it's not paper. And it doesn't withhold the taste like the paper filters do. The coffee comes out tasting like it came from a French press. Which I have and I like but I like this better. If you want this for your pour through, it'll be perfect. The best of both worlds! And it fits my cone perfectly!! It's easy to use, not difficult to empty the used coffee out of it into the green waste bin, and the design is perfect for what I need. I also like the fact that it's reusable over and over again.

Wastes more water vs paper waste
Works great for filtering quickly and very little if any grounds in the pot. The flavor seems more bitter than with a bamboo paper filter, but that's me and others in the family say it tastes good. Clean up is messy and takes a lot of water to do that, but no paper filter waste offsets that water? it seems to be a toss up on waste.

Over 200 pours
The product I purchased was the Ovalware Stainless Steel Pour Over Coffee Filter back in December of 2019. This is a simple pour over coffee filter designed to fit in pour over vessels. It is made of two layers of stainless steel mesh, providing filtration of water through coffee. The perimeter of the filter has a silicone ring that causes it to fit perfectly in my Chemex carafe. This was one of the the solutions for my daily coffee making routine, which was a little different than what I have done previously. My choice to purchase this filter was to determine if permanent filters are as good as paper filters in regards to flavor, time to use and cleanup. Another objective was to see if there is a savings between permanent and what I usually use which is Chemex Classic Coffee Filters, Squares, 100ct. (all prices are at the time I purchased) Ovalware = $19.99, Chemex filters = $12.99 $12.99/100 = $0.13/ use $19.99/ $0.13 = 153 filters 153 filters means 2 packs of filters @$12.99ea = $25.98 I received the item in the box as pictured on the Amazon store page. Inside the box was also a small insert directing the buyer to their website where the product could be registered and more products could be purchased. My first use was the same as all of my other coffee making sessions, except I was using this permanent filter. Proper grind and coffee to water ratio produced an expected filtering (drop) time and the coffee was good. There was no sediment. Cleanup involved dumping the grounds; now I can save them easily for the garden as opposed to picking them out of a filter. Then a rinse under the water followed by towel dry to remove excess water and any oils left behind. Today it has been over 200 days or 2 packs of filters and the Ovalware is still in great shape; this can be seen in the attached photos. The inside seam, which is what I see failed in many reviews, is intact like the day I got it. The outer seam has also maintained. The inner mesh shows no signs of staining and there are no trapped grounds. Depending on the bean, I do use a single regular coffee filter with this; however, this does not affect the drop time. I have over filled the filter (~2.4 ounces), but did not experience any grounds going past the silicon ring into the carafe. I have also fine ground with no issues except increased filter time. I did go to the companyโs website to register my product and have not received enough emails from them to unsubscribe. The emails are thoughtful and monthly. I took a look at their other products and, if I ever need any other coffee gear in the future, that is one of the places I would look, as they have everything. They also have some helpful information such as coffee to water ratio and a blog which is a great resource. My final thoughts are that this product has met and exceeded my expectations and needs. This is a high quality product at a very reasonable price. It makes the same tasting coffee that I had made with the paper filters and the cleanup is easy. Keeping filters in stock takes time and prices change; this filter is always there and has lasted over 200 brewing sessions. The silicone ring seats it perfectly in my carafe and allows me to quickly and easily take the filter out right away without burning my fingers. In regards to the math, this absolutely has saved me money and time.

Perfecto
Sirve excelentemente.

Great Chemex accessory!!
Such a great money and environment saving product. I find this gives the true taste to my espresso beans rather than the filters which I was using. Easy to clean can go in the dishwasher fine. All in all a great accessory to our chemex.

Awesome - NO MORE MICRO-PLASTICS in my coffee !
I use this in my regular coffee maker to reduce the amount of plastic my coffee is running through. Micro-plastics is a real thing. Why would we want hot liquid running through toxic plastic into my coffee ? With this stainless steel coffee filter not only have I made my coffee taste better but now my coffee has less micro plastics!
