Works!
This unit was for a smaller pickup. It fit in my Honda Ridgeline perfectly. I was a little leary it would not hold position because of the plastic hardware used to strap it to the tailgate. I was wrong. After setting it up and using it for the last 2 months, 3 times a day rolling out huge piles of horse manure it has withstood the test. Very impressed.

A good aid for emptying truck bed loads
This came in handy for help with both garden soil and gravel loads recently. Cranking is a bit hard to get started at first, but your load will soon come off as fast as you can crank. My bed is a spray on liner, which is non-slip, so that isn't the slick kind of surface you need to aid the LoadHandler. I added a sheet of hardboard, but something slicker, like a glossy primed panel or laminate sheet would work better, I think. If you have a ribbed plastic bed liner, that should work very well. It also helps a lot to keep the roll bar lubricated at the brackets with silicon spray. I didn't like that you have to anchor the tarp on this to the roll bar with duct tape!...but, it surprisingly, it works just fine. You never unroll the full length of the tarp, anyway. The only other concession is that you have to shovel out some of your load in front of the wheel wells, so the tarp can move freely. If you had a smaller load and kept it all on the tarp, that would be no problem. Overall, a good help for emptying your truck bed loads. Sure beats climbing up and shoveling!

OMG this thing is awesome! unload full loads of wood
OMG this thing is awesome! unload full loads of wood, or gravel in seconds!recommendation... (learn from my mistakes) ...put a tarp across the front (in front of the wheelwells) under this things mat...put the mat up over and tuck down between the bed of truck and the cab...after you unload the gravel, dirt, wood..whatever...you then just have a small amount of stuff left on the tarp...grab the tarp and pull it off...you are unloaded. Takes less than one minute to completely and spotlessly unload a full bed of gravel!downside...the mat is flat braided material, the edges fray and eventually get caught up in the crank and mess up. This part could be redesigned...but this is the best thing I have bought for my truck! get it!

Don't leave in the heat
I bought this and it worked great all winter and fall, and I kept it indoors. I left it outside today, prior to going to the dirt store to get another load of sand. It may have been over capacity, but the weight and the heat combined must have destroyed the adhesive on the duct tape. It just spins with minimal resistance now, and the dirt is in my truck. I'm moving by hand to dig my way out. You should replace the tape seasonally, I guess.

Got a defective one.
Mine was defective. I'm reordering, because I really need this solution to work. I suspect the seller knew ... or should have known ... that the product was defective, because the product box (not shipping box) was retaped, so it had apparently been returned once already. The stub will not screw in fully on one side of the rod assemblage. I unscrewed both ends, sprayed silicone on stub and inside rod pieces, but still have 3/8" stub exposed, and it will not budge any further. I'm also a bit disappointed in the amount of assembly required. There are at least 16 pieces to this, not counting the bolts and screws. The loadhandler website makes it sound so simple, but apparently they're talking about putting it on the truck, not the initial assembly. From their FAQ .... "Q: Can I install it myself?A: Yes. The first "fitting" will take 3 to 5 minutes. After that it takes about 30 seconds to install or detach. " Still, it will be worth it to me, if I can get one where the pieces all fit.******UPDATE: I contacted the seller (Products4) who contacted the manufacturer who is working with me to narrow down the problem piece before shipping a replacement part. Quick response from both seller and manufacturer given that Amazon says to allow 2 business days, and my complaint was lodged on a Friday afternoon. So I'm upgrading my rating from 1 to 3 stars, and once it's all worked out I expect to upgrade the rating further. I'm just still bummed I can't use it tomorrow to unload the mulch. And the manure. And the soil. I really need this thing!

Perfect for my needs
I was skeptical after reading some of the reviews, but the Loadhandler worked great for my gravel project. I bought the mid-size model for my Ranger (standard bed) and everything fits perfectly. NOW IN MY CASE-- I have a plastic bed-liner, so the mat slid good, and I only loaded 1/2 yard of gravel (#57 granite) at a time, so I was only hauling/unloading about 1400 lbs. per trip. The cranking effort was minimal and my wife rolled the truck forward while I cranked and spread the gravel (work smart, not hard). I think where folks may be having issues is either overloading the mat, or not having a smooth bed for the mat to slide on. Since renting a small dump truck for the day is $250 around here, it paid for itself on this project alone. My landscaping supplier is only 3 miles away, so multiple trips wasn't an issue for me. Everybody's needs are different, but for me this product is perfect for getting the most out of your truck for those small projects.

Works well. Heavy duty.
Fits perfectly on my 2003 Ranger. I hauled 1500 lbs of pea gravel and it unloaded in under a minute. The tarp fit perfectly between the wheel wells.
