SpeckProducts CandyShell Grip Case for iPhone 5c - Cadet Blue/Goldfinch Yellow

A few months after buying my iPhone 5c (my first iPhone) back in August 2014, I decided it would be wise to get a case. I ended up buying the Speck CandyShell Grip Case with the faceplate. That case lasted me three years. After about two years, I noticed the rubber grips on the back started wearing off and then I've started develop cracks at the corners, near the power button, the headphone port, up along one of the sides. A piece of plastic in now missing from right headphone jack, but the rubber is still in place. This week, I decided it was time to replace the case when the hard plastic and the rubber broke right by the sound/vibrate switch and is torn down through the bottom of the volume buttons, leaving a piece of plastic dangling. This was after 3 years of use. My case outlasted my phone by a year, when I had to replace it due to a battery issue! That's a fantastic phone case.I decided to return to speck! I left the faceplate from my previous case on my phone and popped this new one on the back! It fits great! It's a bit stiff at the moment. The buttons are a little harder to push and the grips feel a bit intense, but they will loosen up and round out with a little use.

I would have given this item 4 starts due to the seemingly high price for a phone case but my daughter loves it. With all of the sub $20 cases out there, this seemed a little expensive but perhaps that is why it is so good. It is a very well made case that offers a lot of protection. It is made of a nice rubber that is comfortable to hold and offers some traction making the phone more difficult to drop. It also wraps around the edges giving some protection to the glass. When it is laying flat on a surface the glass is actually suspended and the phone is resting on the edges of the case. It does not get in the way when trying to actually use the edges of the phone's screen. I tried to include a picture to show this. After a month of use it is still in great shape, no cracking or discoloration. The charging plug and ear phones fit perfectly and securely. The cut outs for the controls and camera match well. There is no interference or glare from the flash. It is easy to remove and put back on.

I love this case. The Speck Cases are usually $34.95, but this one was under $10! I know the iPhone 5c is an older model and that may be why it was so cheap, but there were plenty of other Speck 5c cases on Amazon and elsewhere that were still close to that original retail price. I love the color combo; it looks just as pictured - a pretty light and dark teal color. (In my opinion, one of the prettier color options that Speck has to offer.) I have always been an OtterBox user, but now that I've tried a Speck case I'll definitely stick with them. The whole profile is a lot slimmer, while still offering adequate protection with both rubber and plastic areas. My old OtterBox Commuter Series case feels like a brick compared to this one. I also appreciate how high the ridge comes up on the front of the phone, which is good for drops and slips to prevent the screen from coming into contact with the ground and cracking. Definitely reccommend!

I used this case for 2 years before upgrading my phone. It worked perfectly for my iPhone 5. it offers great protection without being too bulky. It easily fits in pockets or phone pockets in my purse. I have dropped my phone many times. I also have 2 young children who often play with my phone and during the 2 years this case protected my phone perfectly. The gripping material along the sides make it easy to hold without fear of dropping. It also has the same material along the face of the screen to keep it from sliding on surfaces and to protect the phone if it fell flat on its face. I have had no trouble with the button material cracking or breaking. My only complaint is that the opening for the charger is not large enough. I have an apple charger that is coated with a type of nylon woven cloth and it does not fit in the opening. So, I have to take the case off to charge.

I have had this case since I got my 5c back in 2014 and there is no need to get a new phone yet. So that says a lot. It has been dropped plenty of times. It only just started falling apart around the edges where the plastic doesn't reinforce the rubber. I trimmed the sharp edges to prevent further damage. As you can see the rubber has smoothed out around the sides and buttons. I wanted to change up the style after 3 years, but was immediately disappointed with another case which I returned. It was way too slick, so I just went with the one that has worked for me all this time for the same reasons I got it in the first place. Other cases are too bulky, too slippery, or too flimsy. This one is just right. If my phone even lasts another 3 years I know this case will be right there with it. Also it's ribbed for her pleasure :P

My boyfriend has always had Speck cases, and I decided to cave after wearing out my third cheap case. From what I've seen, this case is pretty standard of Speck products--very solid, stays on tightly, and looks good. Adds a little more bulk to the 5c than some thinner cases, but overall isn't as thick as something like an Otterbox.The "lagoon blue" is lighter than I thought, but the color matches the blue iPhone 5c perfectly which worked out nicely. The yellow rubber didn't stay yellow for very long though--I keep my phone in the pocket of my jeans which must've discolored it quickly.Buttons still work, but chargers might be tricky to plug into the bottom sometimes. Definitely try before buying if you're getting a new charger.Overall, I love this case and I think it'll last awhile.

Unbeatable quality/price. I'm 100% satisfied! Good phone case, I like it. I like the grip on it.

Speck make good quality stuff

Replaced my older and bulkier case with this one. LIght, easily visible so phone not lost at bottom of the bag. Only suggestion for improvement would be to include a screen protector which needs to be bought separately.

Love it, a thin protective and effective shell. Purchased after a youtoube review dropping an iPhone SE 50feet and surviving the fall. I use it for my iPhone 5.
