This is a great versatile tool, it will never replace individual knives, chisels and gouges but it is a handy tool for all sorts of little jobs. and you can put them all in your pocket.

Very nice design. I keep this with me anytime in going outdoors. It holds an edge fairly well and the honing block makes it easy to maintain razer sharp blades. The stitching for the belt loop on the case came loose so I stitched it back together.

If you love to carve wood and are looking for a great knife look no further. I’ve never held a knife this sharp right out of the package!!! Please don’t buy the $20-25 knife that is similar!!!!! You will be so happy with the carving jack. Yes it’s a little pricey but what you get is well worth the extra dough guaranteed!!! Another great feature is you can buy this item left or right handed and not have to special order. Left handed was in stock. This item is a carvers dream with six important carving tools all in one. Plus it comes with a nice leather sheath, a sharpening strop with shapes to fit all the blades. Also a yellow or gold sharpening compound to help keep the razor sharp edges. Lastly, you’d think a knife loaded with all these blades would be bulky and uncomfortable in your hand, wrong!! Extremely comfortable. I thought that I had my usual carving tools razor sharp ... until I got this. WOW. These knives arrive in *perfect* sharpness out of the package. I might buy another -- or perhaps the whittlin' Jack -- as a supplement. Melts wood like -- pardon the cliche, but man oh man -- BUTTER.The blades are a bit tough to extend, but I found that applying a little Ballistol (or another oil) to the ends really helps loosen them up. (Another reviewer stated that he used a screwdriver to open them. NO. Do. Not. Ever.)My only complaint has to do with the fake wood veneer on the handle. If it's not real, don't even try. Why not use some awesome material like carbon fiber or glass-reinforced nylon?

Ok first off I'm use to whittling with with just a pocket knife and those were basically hacking at a stick so I bought this in a attempt to actually make something when I'm away from home. So use of actual whittling tools are a new thing to me. Anyway I'm a lefty so I bought the left-handed carving jack and for the most part it works great, fits fine in my big hands the blades can be a bit awkward trying to get out but I'm sure over time it'll be easier to handle. What concerns me is that the only way to position it for use is for most of the blades to face towards you, meaning you're pulling the blade to you and not away.

I just received the carving jack today and I'm a little dissapointed because of the scratches all around each brass pin, over all the thing feels solid, my only other complaint is that when open each tool it kind of slides against everything next to it but I will use for the next 2 weeks and review again
