Talon 998G Grips Sheet (Granulate-Black, 5 x 7-Inch) - Made in The USA

First off, I got the wrong product, but Amazon made it right immediately, and I had the correct product 2 days later. (I didn't have to return the wrong item and I got credit, which I used to re-purchase the right item.) I chose the granulated sheet, which is rougher, like a cross between skateboard grip tape and sandpaper. I wanted a tacky grip, and this was just right for that. One sheet is way more than enough for three pistols, if you're just putting it on the slides. After I blow-dried it, it's like it's part of the slide. I have more than enough for another one, but I am going to use a paper cutter for a super straight edge, now that I used all the manufacturer's clean edges. Someone suggested a scalpel (or similar) for cutting around notches / curves, which I might try for the next one, too. I did cover up markings and emblems on the slides, but I think it looks good, anyway. I recommend this grip sheet. I haven't tried any others, and probably won't since this one suits me, is easy to use and is relatively inexpensive.

Cut and applied these to the front and rear of the grip on an original Browning HP that I had professionally highly customized, but had neglected to get stippled. This product made a huge difference in how much better the grip fit in my hand and feels much more comfortable and secure.

Cuts to size and perfect fit was easy and Installed in seconds and grips super tight with a little heat from a hair blower dryer. I installed this about a year ago and still like the day I installed it. Highly recommend this product for anything you want to increase the tactile grip. Hint: just slightly round the corners (just no sharp corners) of the pieces you cut and they’ll not peel away.

Just received this and immediately applied it to my extended magazines, support hand thumb rest area, and even the pinky rest area on my standard magazines. It transformed my pistol into something I have much more confidence in controlling and performing follow up shots. I shoot a 10mm compact XDM Elite and the grip texture is was too slippery for the power of a 10mm round. Without even shooting the pistol, my grip is now secure and firm. The texture of the granulate version is just like sand paper. This may not be good for appendix or IWB carry as it will irritate the skin and will snag clothing easily. However, for application to the extended magazine ends and adding a few patches to critical areas on the pistol frame and maybe the front and rear straps of the grip, I think this grip texture works very well. I absolutely recommend that you heat the tape before applying ( you’ll notice that the tape becomes “floppy” when it’s heated enough before applying), then after applying, heat the tape again and press firmly on all areas to really seat the adhesive and tape to your pistol gear. Repeat the heating process another 2x and it will be perfect. No need for a hair dryer or heat gun, which is often recommended. I just used the heat of my gas stove to warm everything to the temperature of very warm but not hot. Just remember to make sure the firearms are completely unloaded and safe.

This is a difficult product to review as I use it in conjunction with the rubberized version, so some of the things it fails at I replace with the rubberized version. I use the granulate on the finger grove area as well as the backstrap area, but cut the palm and support hand areas out of the rubber. Essentially this is skateboard griptape however much thinner backing, which allows for better curves. I recently bought skateboard grip tape in hopes of mimicking the Talon Grips, but the backing is much thicker and harder to contour. Your hands will for the most part, not move when touching the granulate. There are pros and cons to that, and some parts need to slide into (ie beaver tail area). One downside is that granulate will catch onto clothing so that's why I don't use it on the side walls if its a carry piece. It does it's job too well there. But in the finger grooves and on the backstraps, it does an excellent job at keeping your hand where it needs to be. I do have a few that are 100% coverage with granulate, but those I use at the range only. One thing to note is that because your firearm still moves in your hand when shooting, it can rub off the upper layers of your skin, so gloves might be necessary until you build up callouses. It is not comfortable in that sense. That is also why I put the rubber on the side walls -- to minimize how much of hand was affected. My recommendation is to try their rubberized version first. If that still moves in your hand, switch to the granulate.

It's rough. Like skateboard tape. I use it on a ReCover Tactical 1911 grip frame, that's installed on a Lightweight Kimber. .45acp. It's rough to shoot, as an amateur. Gun weighs 31.2 ounces, empty. My 9mm weighs 42.9oz in comparison. This grip tape made such a huge difference, that it takes the #1 spot in terms of price to performance in regards to ALL the aftermarket parts/upgrades for any/all pistols I've bought this year. And it does so by a country mile. That said, it is a very specific application/need. YMMV.

Works great. A little too much money for what it is. Still it’s a great product and makes a great grip
