Q: does this come stained or finished or is it just the raw wood?

It's just the raw wood. I stained it and put a clear coat on after I glued it down. Turned out well.

Q: if i used hide glue and booked my peice, will it still have pucker?

Hide glue is water based so it might. I use contact cement for best results.

Q: Would light shine through this veneer? I am thinking to use it to make a lampshade.

Yes, like a regular lamp shade. But very little light. However, and stain or treatment would make it even harder to see through.

Q: I've read about it bubbling if it gets wet. i bought dap 25312 weldwood contact cement gel formula 1-quart. is this the right stuff?

I would guess it would work just fine. I use regular old contact cement when applying the veneer. Just make sure you "roll" the veneer on the object to prevent any bubbling.
