Best welder I have ever owned.
I own 2 KLUTCH welders (120V and 200A dual volt), a MIller maxstar 150 and previously owned a maxstar 140, some brand hex or something from amazon, and 2 harbor freight welders. I typically run E6011 3/32 or 6010 and 1/8 7018. Only this welder and the miller will even try to run a 1/8 E7018 on 120vac. I even bought come cut8000 gouging electrodes and this welder turned all the way up on 240vac torched through 3/8carbon plate with those gouging rods. I kept tripping the Circuit breaker having fun just blasting away metal (not really welding) and tripped the breaker 5 or 6 times. So I'm literally mid arc and power drops out. That was a year ago. I have been Tig welding SS pipe lift arc for hours since then and it works perfectly every time. The only caveat is if you power off and back on again it always defaults to TIG. So when your'e stick welding and forget you wonder why the arc wont start until you remember.. duh... gotta change modes... again...

Great little welder
My wife bought this for me as a birthday gift. I couldn't imagine that it would work this well. My other welder is an ancient 295 amp Hobart with the "ship's wheel". It literally weighs a ton. Well, okay 1000 lbs. There was no way this toy could work. Yet, it does, and quite well. I haven't welded anything over 1/4" yet, but have no doubt this will work great. I haven't tried it on 220v yet either. When I first hooked it up, nothing worked. There is a button to go from TIG to rod (MMA button). The machine is set up to default to TIG. This is the only thing I can fault it for. As long as you know this, it isn't an issue. I wonder how many are sent back as defective from newbies. How many other welders can you literally toss in your daddy's lunch box?

Good enough to learn with.
I have never stick welded before until I got this machine. After watching a few videos I tried my best to practice, at first I thought maybe I wasn't very good at striking arc. I knew it wasn't machine because this this made rods burn like candles. After a little research I figured it was the rods. They were cheap and old stock. I recommend if your going to stick weld to buy from a welding supply house or get rods that are vacuum sealed. Cheap rods don't get vacuum sealed and you can tell the difference. New rods quickly struck a arc. They had a smooth burn, very little spatter. Restrike was easy also. Weld beads were very nice. I used 110v on a 30 amp breaker and this worked really well. After I got the hang of it I started to use the old bad rods just to burn them up for fun. Haven't tried the TIG feature yet because I don't have and gas or tungsten. But TiG mode will make a spark if using rods but will not weld them. This is a good machine for the money and again I recommend quality welding rods.

This thing is wonderful for the price!
This welder is great! It runs smooth on 110 and 220 both. We use it for every application you can think of and it hasn't let us down. The short leads could be longer but for the price it works just fine.
