I like how compact everything nicely fits into a very durable case. All of the accessories are quality made. I have used gun cleaning kits from many other manufacturers for cleaning engines and restoration cleaning of antiques. This one I can tell it will last it might be slower in ways compared to other methods yet it is gentle and really does an amazing job. Pulling the debris away from all of the areas that you do not want debris to be is critical for the life of everything from a firearm to an engine or anything else that requires the use of a cleaning kit like this. When you are finished using the kit clean everything up, put it away and you should have a tool kit that will last a long time. This is not a disposable or junk kit it is built to last just dont force it use common sense read instructions. I highly recommend this kit for anyone who is learning about firearms because it is simple to use. Used as the instructions say your not going to harm your investment you will protect it along with learning more about your firearms or whatever else you are cleaning. Give one of these a try you might like it. I know that I am very pleased with my purchase. Great product and excellent customer service. This kit is a perfect addition for all firearms owners... one kit cleans some of the most common variants, in a small, easy to store package. All the materials are high quality, and I'm stoked to be able to keep all my firearms in good condition for many years to come.I wanted to give two thumbs up to the Real Avid customer service... seems the kit I ordered from Amazon was missing the small threaded adapter to clean pistols (bummer!). So I emailed their customer service this morning and they called be back before 4pm, the same day. They are shipping the needed piece to my home... yay! Thank you very much Real Avid, it's awesome to see a company that cares about its customers, whether brand new like me, or established/been around for years.

I only bought this kit for its size. Being an amateur prepper, I'm always looking for smaller packaging in the things I need. So my main use for this kit is a backup/go bag kit.First off, I don't have a 20 ga. shotgun, so I took out the 20 ga. bore brush and filled the container with about 30 cut-off q-tips (a common gun cleaner's friend). And I slid a few individually wrapped Rem Oil Wipes in one of the pockets, and also added a few 1" square cleaning patches (the patches included are about 2"x1" rectangles and bigger). Now the only thing I need for this kit is a small enough container to hold some Nitro Solvent, which isn't included with this kit.It seems to me that the way the insides of this kit is packaged, it should have been done backwards. Anything you put in the mesh pockets will take away from the space already taken up by the big bore brush tubes, and the big wire brushes. Nonetheless, everything still fits without putting too much stress on the zipper. The zipper itself is a little more heavy duty than I expected, so extra points there. And the red brush holder is made of rubber so it won't crack and break.Now yes, I actually did use this kit to clean a gun. I started with a .22 revolver. The only complaint I have here is that when using the plastic patch holder for the first time, it didn't fit down the barrel. There were two "wings" on the sides of it as a result from excess plastic (which can be seen in the photo), those just needed to be shaved off with a sharp knife. Everything else has worked perfectly so far. The cables are strong and everything threads on nicely. Using a cable instead of a rod took some getting used to, but in the end it's just as easy.This is quite a good little kit. It's smaller than any other kit you're going to find, the case is heavy duty, and it's full of average if not better quality cleaning supplies. As a prepper, I could see these kits being worth a lot more as a potential post-apocalyptic currency than silver coins at the same price : )

The cable has 2 threads, one end for .17 caliber 5/40 and one end for calibers .22 - .45 8/32. The handle is threaded 8/32. there is no adapter for the 8/32 handle to attach to the 5/40 end of the cable. you will need that to use the handle with any caliber other than .17. If I get the adapter, I will change my rating.I contacted Real Avid via their web site on Nov 16, 2015, at 11:29 PM. On 11/17/2015 09:13 AM, I received a response asking for my mailing address so that they could send the missing part. I received the part on 11/19/2015. You can not get much quicker than that.I have now used it and I am pleased with the ease of use. It was just long enough for me to clean a 1884 Trapdoor with it. The fact that you can drag the patches from the trapdoor makes it less likely that you will put wear on the muzzle.I am changing my rating from a 2 due to the missing part to a 5 based on the quick response and replacement of the missing part.This is a good solution for doing a quick wash of the trapdoor barrel in the field. I filled a clean 1/2 gallon milk container with a solution of dawn and water and used it to wet some patches to clean the bore. I also dump the cartridges in the jug to keep the black powder from corroding them.

Perfect does not begin to describe this kit! Small, lightweight, compact, secure case and, best of all, has components to fit all your weapons. (Unless, of course, you are in the artillery). The pullthru's handle makes the job both comfortable and easy on the hand. The brushes, patches, et al are well-designed to take the wear of countless cleanings. I might quibble with the plastic pullthru attachments, but careful loading - don't 'wad' the patch - will obviate potential problem there. And the turn-around time by the company was incredible. I ordered the kit on a Thursday and Monday's mail saw it delivered. That doesn't happen much these days. :o) All in all - I am very pleased that this kit more than met my needs and expectations. The price was a great deal as well!
