(99MO012206) Moshi PalmGuard & Trackpad Protector For MacBook Pro Unibody 15 Silver

Overall, I like the Moshi PalmGuard, but I think based on its not-so-cheap-for-a-piece-of-plastic status, it could use some work. Application was fairly easy, however I found that the strip above the trackpad when installing it from the bottom up (as they suggest) got a bit of a buckle in it. I was able to adjust it carefully and get it to adhere, but it did come up one more time an hour later. Once this is in place, I'd suggest really pushing hard all around to ensure proper adhesion. Much easier to install than a screen protector though, that's for sure.The trackpad protector works well, and allows all finger gestures, but I'd like it to be a smoother texture. It's not quite as silky smooth as the uncovered surface, and takes a little getting used to. The other problem I noticed, and honestly just wasn't prepared for due to the nature of the palmrest cover, was the presence of air bubbles. So word to the wise: imagine the trackpad cover is a screen protector and really try carefully to avoid trapping air. I'll give this a little more time, but the trackpad cover may have to come off soon. I'd rather have paid less for the palmrest cover and not had the trackpad cover bundled with it.UPDATE: Within hours of posting this, of course the band running along the top of the trackpad is now perpetually buckling up and not adhering properly. The surface was prepared before application to get rid of any grease or dust, but this thing is just not adhering properly in that area, especially when the battery is charging and the surface becomes warm. I have contacted Moshi's customer service, so hopefully they address this problem soon.UPDATE 2: This is a long overdue update, but Moshi got right back to me and sent out a new guard. The new one adhered PERFECTLY and has been on for over a year now. I don't even notice that it's there and I know it's done a good job of limiting wear and tear on the trackpad and palm rest area. Great product.

Your satisfaction may depend on why you use it. If you're just trying to protect the palm area from scratches, it's great. Goes on smoothly and didn't interfere at all with the hard shell clip on case I have for the exterior. Like others have said, the color isn't 100% exact but I don't notice it--and things like that usually do bother me.I had two different goals though that it does not work for.After replacing a trackpad that turned schizophrenic, I wanted to protect the new one from both lotion and other things that could harm the top of the trackpad and prevent any accidental drops of water from seeping into it.It seemed to achieve the first goal fine, until my trackpad started not following me consistently about a month later. After trying everything, my brother took the trackpad cover off and voila--now it works fine. He said the cover must interfere with the sensitivity.(On a side note, it came off easily and cleanly, with no residue.)I knew as soon as I saw it that it wasn't going to accomplish the second goal. Because it covers just the part that's depressed, any accidentally dropped water could still slide into the laptop. Unfortunately, I don't think any product will do that.So, if you're just using it to protect the palm area from scratches, it's great. But I can't recommend it for trackpad protection based on my experiences.

I have an almost two month old Macbook Pro Quadcore. The 5-year-old Macbook Pro it replaced had horrible scratches all over the palm rest. I didn't want that to happen to my baby, so I sought out this product after purchasing and loving  moshi ClearGuard MB Keyboard Cover for MacBook/Pro/Air . Both of these products blend into the Macbook pro, barely perceptible but protecting your valuable investment. Since mac does not and will not offer warranty coverage for accidental damage, I just wouldn't be without a keyboard cover to protect against spills! Now I feel so much more comfortable resting my hands on the palmrests to type. I had be being very obsessive, taking off my watch, etc. to make sure it didn't get scratched. A lot of reviewers don't like the trackpad cover. I don't find any difference at all in my simple gestures like tapping and navigating, but it does make it very difficult to pinch and expand. I gave it a 4 in functionality because of it. I may or may not continue to use it. Some reviewers have said it makes the palmrest more comfortable. I did not notice this in terms of any cushioning; however, it is a nice surface to rest my palms/wrists on. It is grabby rather than slippery, and gives a sense of stability. It was fairly easy to put on. It took me a few tries, but that wasn't a problem. It looks very, very close to the color of the macbook pro body, and is very unobtrusive. I had one problem with the fit that was also mentioned in another review. I have a Speck case fitted on my macbook pro, and it, too is designed to perfectly fit the laptop. Thus; there was a bubble where the speck clip was until I did what the other reviewer suggested and took a small cut out of the Moshi palmrest sticker. I used an exacto knife and it only shows if I look straight at it close trying to find it. I haven't tried closing it but common sense will tell you there is a gap when you close it - the sticker is a couple of mm thick! All and all, another great product from Moshi. I wish the price were lower - it's pretty pricey for a sticker. They do, on their behalf, have to package it carefully so it is not damaged in shipment.

Needed to be trimmed a little but not required, fits nicely and easy to install. I would definitely recommend this product

Tenía unas picadas en el reposamanos y con este adhesivo han quedado perfectamente disimuladas.El adhesivo cubre perfectamente toda la superfície, tiene un color idéntico al del MacBook Pro.Lleva más de un año instalado y está como el primer día. Muy fácil de limpiar.

Cette protection ne se remarque pas, le toucher des poignées sur la protection ne gène aucunement, au contraire on n'a plus peur de rayer (j'ai une gourmette) ou de laisser des traces sur le portable.La pose se fait très facilement, de plus une notice vient avec la protection et même au cas ou on se tromperait on peut encore décoller la protection et la positionner comme il faut. La protection du trackpad ne gène en rien l'utilisation de celui ci, n'ayez pas peur. Comme je m'étais trompé à la pose de la protection, je l'ai délicatement enlevé pour la repositionner comme il faut, le produit adhésif ne reste pas sur le mac ! c'est vraiment un produit magique et ca va faire bientôt un an que je l'ai, et il tient toujours aussi bien, j'ai même tendance à l'oublier.

A pretty decent product. However if you have a hard outer casing like the speck branded one (like me) then be aware that the clips of the case create a few air bubbles on the sides. Other than that it's definitely worth the price and I find that the trackpad is so much better with it. It has a nice texture as opposed to the uncomfortably smooth aluminium feel.

Wirklich klasse dieser Schutz. Hält perfekt am Macbook, auch ein halbes Jahr später. Die Oberfläche ist sehr angenehm und in keiner Weise zu rau. Es sieht wirklich aus wie das Aluminium des MBP und wenn man es nicht weiss, fällt einem der Schutz nicht auf. War schon bei mehreren Freunden so. Der Schutz passt wirklich milimetergenau und verschandelt den Laptop in keinster Weise.Den Schutz habe ich gekauft um zu vermeiden, dass sich mit der Zeit diese typischen, dunklen Schweissflecken auf der Handballenauflage bilden. Das sieht nicht schön aus und ist auch nicht besonders hilfreich bei der Werterhaltung, wenn man den Laptop später wieder verkaufen möchte.--UPDATE-- Oktober 2013: Die Folie war nun jahrelang auf dem MBP und ließ sich mit einer sehr dünnen Plastikkarte schnell ablösen und hat keine Spuren hinterlassen. Ein ganz dünner Klebefilm an manchen Stellen ließ sich problemlos mit Etikettenentferner entfernen. Ich würde es immer wieder kaufen, mein MBP konnte ich so wie neu bei ebay verkaufen, weil es keine Abnutzungsspuren gab.
