Ginsu Chikara's are high quality knives at prices that make them hands down the best value for ordinary "not a chef" home cooks.
We're not "serious" chefs in the kitchen. Just ordinary day-in-day-out cooks looking for a good quality tool at a fair price. Guess what? This is it.These are such an immediately noticeable improvement over the stamped kitchen knife sets that it actually brings a smile to your face the first time you use them. They come out of the box sharper than any other knives that we've ever bought and, after a month, they aren't showing any hint of losing that sharpness. We thought about getting some of the German "name brand" knives but, because we're just ordinary home cooks, we just couldn't justify the price. Then we say a review that had the Ginsu knives rated just slightly below the German brands and mentioned that they were 1/3rd the price. So, we went to Amazon to check out the options and now we couldn't be happier. We're ordering the set of 4 steak knives and a 8" slicer to finish out our knife needs and that will give us an entire set of very high quality knives for the price of two of the German brand knives.

Good quality but slightly too big and too stiff.
This knife is definitely good quality knife and holds the edge well (even though perhaps the "rating" of the carbon steel may be slightly lower grade than more expensive knifes). I think for the price/value ratio it is a good buy. However, there are a couple of specific things I personally do not like.1) The blade is a bit larger than 6 inches. Normally in knives, I feel larger the better. But not this time.2) The blade is also less flexible than my expectation. It is quite stiff and has minimal give. Both of the above attributes make it less than ideal as a boning knife. I'd have preferred a slightly smaller and more nimble knife.

Great knife for the money
This knife is an excellent value. It is sharp and well-balanced. The handle has a slightly sticky feel which I found unpleasant at first, but it actually helps keep the knife from slipping in your hand. It is attractive looking and has a full tang. It does have a brittle blade- I bought this one to replace the first one that I bought. I broke it when I put a cast iron pan down on top of it in the sink. It cannot be washed in the dishwasher, but it is very easy to wash by hand. I think it is a surprisingly good knife for a surprisingly low price.

Thick n sturdy spine
Thus is my third Ginsu knife. I bought a shorter santoku knife a few years ago. It was so good that my friend took it away for his new condo. I was at a lost for a few months before I bought this. Though the spine ofvtgf knife is thick n sturdy, the blade is sharp and light. It makes cooking something I will look forward to.

decent house knife, not for work
was delivered warped so i had to return for a straight edged one. after use requires lots of up keep. i use whet stones on it and still have to bring to the block every 2 weeks after honing doesn't keep sharp. metal is real flimsy at best....bends and holds bend too easy. the handle could be broader so it doesn't roll in your hand when taking on heavy duty stuff....and is too light, for a full tang blade with full bolster there is no heft....decent for light weight work but stay away from heavy stuff.......leave in the kitchen at home and it's a go to....no meant for work

which are good, but I needed other good knives
I own a few Henckels knives, which are good, but I needed other good knives. I was about to plunk down several hundred dollars on a new set of Henckels, but after reading the reviews I decided to gamble on the "cheap" set. They are only cheap in cost. They are sturdy and well-balanced. Now I reach for the Ginsus before the Henckels.

Very Sharp
Very sharp and runs through meat like butter. Seems to hold an edge. Light sharpening keeps it sharp. Great price for the quality. I have several Ginsu Chikara series knives and after several years they continue to perform.

Great knife for the price
I am really picky about kitchen knives. I hate dull knives. Dull knives are annoying and useless. This is a great utility knife for the price. Super sharp right out of the box, nice handle, nice balance, well made, good quality forged steel (not stamped), I like to utility knife for it size. A little larger and more useful than a pairing knife, but not unwieldy like a chef's knife. I paid $12 for it and it is probably one of the best deals I have gotten in kitchen cutlery.

Comfortable handle
Not the sharpest knife, but easily can be sharpened. Feels great in the hand and has a nice amount of bend to the blade for cutting and shaping meat

Great knives Iโd recommend them
Great knives with a good weight but not too much for a petite size women. They do seem to hold an edge longer than my other knives that arenโt Japanese steel. They were a good buy and Iโm really happy with them.
