Yes you can. My husband put it together by himself. An extra set of hands is helpful!

does this come with the wood in the picture?

Yes. Be prepared to wait a few weeks to get your order. When I got mine, it came within couple of days, but it had been used by someone given the scratches on the frame. Amazon was very good about discounting the item for me. I needed black scaffolding for a stage project, and this one has worked out nicely. I'll order more these if I need them.
