AJC Battery Compatible with Black & Decker 243215 12V 5Ah Lawn and Garden Battery

This battery appeared to have exactly the same dimensions. Installation into my Grass Hog was easy and the + and _ spade lugs snapped onto the battery terminals with a satisfying click. I allowed the battery to charge for 24 hours before attempting to use the trimmer. The first time using the trimmer after installing the new battery felt like the original power was restored. I used the trimmer for about 30 minutes and did not exhaust the battery. I am pleased with this replacement battery so far. I leave the battery on trickle charge when I'm not using the trimmer.

Worked great for my lawn trimmer and was easy to remove and replace the old one. Just watched youtube videos. Cheaper than buying a new trimmer!

This works well and fits our Black and Decker weed eater perfectly. I wished it lasted a little longer but our weed eater might be dying and draining the battery faster. We got 3 years out of the 1st battery but only a year out of the 2nd.

I was ready to throw my Black and Decker weed trimmer in the trash because it stopped working after year or two. I figured what the heck let me try a new battery so I ordered one through Amazon. It arrived within a few days. I charged it up overnight, and the weed trimmer is back in service! My advice is to take a picture after you open the case of your trimmer BEFORE disassembling anything so you can refer to the photo when putting it back together. So far I'm extremely happy with this purchase.UPDATE: On 4/11/14 I used this trimmer for the first time after a long winter and the battery continues to work great.

Per others - take pictures when remove cover. Also, IMPORTANT - when removing cover screws, if an old and weary weed wacker, put on solid surface and press pretty hard down into the screws to prevent stripping them. Be patient, maybe som WD-40. I snapped one of mine - still 5 others but be nice to have them all. Old Black and Decker wacker full of life again!

FOLKS-normally all I do is -when I get these 12VDC 5AH batteries is- FLUKE test them to see if they show at least a 12VDC charge. If a steady 12VDC charge is present I put them on a SWITCHED(turns OFF when the correct level is reached) 12 VDC charger (for 6 hours).Up 'till now I could use the B & D edge trimmer for at least 50 minutes after the initial 6 hour charge. This time the time was a meager 25 minutes!I have put it back on the charger and will charge it 4 a whole day+.Will report after I verify that it has the same operating time-(50 minutes +) as the interval I am used to!

This battery is just ever so slightly bigger than the O.E., preventing the case from closing properly. I first re-examined my reassembly to be sure I had not made an error, and it all looked fine. Then I swapped them again, using the old battery and it went right in, allowing the case to close as it should.So next, I compared dimensions of the 2, and yup, the new one is too big by about 1/8”.I can’t recommend it. In my case the return period had elapsed before I realized there was a problem, but that is on me.

The battery was as advertised, the correct replacement and arrived on time. Unfortunately the device it was ordered for did not survive the transplant surgery. The old battery had come slightly adrift and damaged two of six interior plastic/Bakelite case screw receiver pylons. Opening the case allowed the battery feed wires to move just enough to short the old battery just long enough to be exciting. I can't really complain about this as the device had been in service for several years and I expect the shock of bumping the string spool to deploy more weed cutting string played its part in the damage. I purchased a new recent redesign machine and was pleased to see that this failure mode had been designed out of the tool: the battery in the new B&D weed whacker is in its own case external to the control head and allows the seamless ability to change battery packs in seconds in the field vice the necessity to dissect the control head in the odd hour on the workbench.

THIS BATTERY IS AN EXACT SIZE AND POWER FOR MY CORDLESS WEED EATER. IT HAS TO FIT INSIDE A CUTOUT IN THE HEAD OR THE TWO HALVES OF THE COVER WILL NOT GO BACK TOGETHER. IT FITS PERFECT. ALSO CAME WAY AHEAD OF PROMISED TIME FRAME. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR ATTENTIVE TO YOUR CUSTOMERS.

Came fully charged. Installed it then cleaned up yard. Would recommend this replacement. Next we’ll see how long it lasts.
