Just Barely Passes - That's About It...
I ordered and received two of these from the same vendor Premier Audio Video: I do professional graphics work and did not expect these low-cost monitors to meet mid-level graphics-intensive requirements but rather for general computer usage. My low-level expectations were met...Shipping and Delivery:Although I ordered two monitors from the same vendor at the same time, on the same order. For some odd reason the vendor shipped them separately, via Fedex, resulting in two separate deliveries by two separate Fedex trucks at two different times of the day ! From a shipping standpoint I think it would have been easier to ship them as a single shipment... but perhaps there's something about shipping with Fedex that I don't know.Cables and CD:One of the monitors came with its power cord, VGA cable, and a CD with drivers and basically marketing junk. The 2nd monitor, came with the same cables, and was missing the CD - go figure. Luckily, with one CD I could get to the drivers and utilities, etc for both monitors. The CD contains 3 utilities that facilitate adjusting the monitor, and a set of drivers. There are no written instructions at all. The drivers on the CD include drivers for various AOC monitors and includes a folder named "2770" and another name "2770 Win 10".Initial Setup: I installed one monitor on a Windows 7 Pro machine and the other on a Windows 10 machine. In both cases, the monitor automatically adjusted its aspect ratio to provide a full screen view, no other adjustments were necessary. And in both cases, the monitor produce pretty much the same quality level of image/presentation. Initially, even if you don't install the monitor's driver, Windows sets up the monitor with a generic PnP driver and it seems to work well enough.I decided to use the drivers from AOC, so proceeded to update the current driver. However, after selecting the 2770 Win 10 folder to do a driver update, Windows 10 says that its current driver is better.Just to be sure Windows was not leaving anything out on the driver side, I went to the AOC website (U.S website), looked up the monitor model and downloaded the driver package for the E2770SHE. I proceeded to install the AOC provided driver: Windows used a generic PnP driver and initially, if you try and change it Windows will report that it already has the "best driver" installed. However, you can override that and install the driver manually by looking for the driver on your machine with the "I have a disk" option. After doing so I installed the just downloaded driver from AOC - note that if you do this, if you previously set any options on the monitor they will be lost. After installing the AOC driver I saw absolutely no difference in the quality of the image produced. So for completeness you can load the AOC driver but in my case it made no difference, and it might not in your case if you do the same.Missing Pixels: I didn't detect missing pixels, at least not so far.Sharpness: The monitor is not the sharpest, granted it is a 27" monitor, the sharpness could be better. There is a feature accessible using the buttons on the underside called "Clear View" that acts like a sharpening filter if you've ever used one to sharpen images in a graphics program. There are three levels of sharpening and even the lowest setting there was a noticeable blooming and halo effect around text. The remaining setting are even more severe. In my opinion, the :"Clear View" feature is totally useless and I would avoid like the plague, especially for anything with text.Brightness: The monitor is large, and is capable of high brightness (even though it uses an SDR color space) so you can be easily blinded by its brightness, particularly with text on a white background.Adjustments: The monitor has a set of buttons on the underside that gets you into the menu for adjustments, etc. One of the three utilities also does the same thing - so you can do adjustments via software and/or using the monitors buttons. Using the buttons takes some practice and can be quite frustrating since you'll invariably make mistakes along the way and wind up changing a setting when you don't want to, or getting out of a particular setting's menu when you don't want to.Software utilities: You can also install and use one of the utilities from the CD that can access all the same adjustment features, at least on a Windows 10 machine, with the exception of the previously mentioned "Clear View" feature - in that instance, not being able to access "Clear VIew" is no loss since it doesn't make anything better: I'd recommend using the software utility for adjustments over using the buttons on the monitor - you'll experience less trauma that way. However, on a Windows 7 machine not all of the utilities menu selections are available; on Windows 10 they are. Why they are not available on Windows 7 vs Windows 10 is not indicated in the utility.Saving your settings: Once you've gotten the settings to what you prefer you can save them using a short 8 character file name.I spent about 1 hour adjusting one monitor, using Windows 10, to get the contrast / brightness / color-temp and a few other areas as good as I could, after which the presentation was nothing more than "satisfactory".Inputs: This monitor has two HDMI inputs, and a single VGA input. The VGA input makes it compatible with almost all computers. The two HDMI inputs are useful if you have a computer with an HDMI output, or you want to connect something like a streaming stick (something I did not try).Thin Bezel: The Amazon page says "thin bezel" : Not at all. This particular model AOC has a rather typical bezel. It's rather thick. If you're planning on putting them side-by-side for a two or more monitor set up, don't ! Otherwise, I had no issue with the bezel.Final thoughts:The biggest issue with this model are: a) sharpness; it should be better, b) text on white background, c) washed-out colors:In fairness to AOC I didn't try using an HDMI input with the computers I have, mainly because they don't put out an HDMI signal. But if you have a computer that does, it's possible you'll have better experience than I did with some of these issues. But even my non-HDMI monitors have better clarity and contrast using a VGA input than this AOC model does.No matter what I did to adjust the monitor I could not get colors and contrast to what I see on some of my other (similarly low-end) monitors. Contrast seems to not really work as "contrast" but more like Gamma which affects brightness. Even after adjustments colors were somewhat washed out. Viewing text on a white background is a challenge with this monitor, add to this the fact that many websites have adopted to using very light text on a white background and you will likely have issues with the text being really hard to read. This is an area where it will take lots of effort to adjust the monitor so that you can see text well enough, has good white, yet doesn't blind you.Now just because this is an inexpensive monitor doesn't mean it should have the issues I found with it. I have "cheap" monitors that work better with all the shortcoming this one has. So while price is a factor, in this day and age any monitor should be sharp enough and contrast should work well. If you need a monitor for any kind of graphics work, even non-professional work, I think you will be disappointed with this model. If you want a monitor for general usage this will sort of "fill-the-bill" if you have the patience to do the adjustments, and even after that you're likely to be somewhat unhappy with it in my opinion.I would have sent my two monitors back, but the vendor charges a 20% restock fee which is pretty punitive IMO, and of course you'll have to pay return shipping as well. If I expected to do serious graphics work these would have failed miserably, but I was not expecting to do that. Aside from the issues I found they still are quite usable for average use. But, having said that, there are better monitors in this price range, so definitely pass this one up.And, try and purchase from a vendor that doesn't have such a punitive return policy as Premier Audio Video.

Good 27-inch Screen in the Below $150 Range
Good product. Everything works fine. Mounted easily on my VESA screen-mount. Only thing that had me worried at the beginning was that the A/C cable connection into the screen is shaky and seemed pretty loose. But the connector went in all the way and works without problems.I use my screens for work with HDMI, so I am not an expert on picture or color quality. I compared to AOC E2752S and Samsung S27D360 and they all look pretty much the same to me. Though in picture sharpness I would give a small advantage to Samsung. Comes with VGA and A/C cable. For my purposes a great bang for the buck.
