Samick Sage Archery Takedown Recurve Bow 62-inch - Bows for Teens to Adults - Beginners to Advanced, for Hunting & Target Practice

I'm very new to archery, with this being my first bow. I've yet to shoot it as my arrows haven't arrived. And I'll update when they do, But I have been practicing with it for a few days. And it's awesome. Before I get to the review, I'd like to give some quick info to those considering getting into archery with this bow. -Handedness with a bow means the hand that draws the string back, ex. a right hand bow will be drawn with the right hand. Do some careful research into which handedness to choose, there is more to consider than just your dominant hand. -In order to get started, you'll need a couple more pieces of gear to go along with this bow: 1. A bow stringer is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I use the Selway Limbsaver Recurve Bow Stringer and it works well for me. 2. Arrows, unless you have some already. You can shoot with this basic gear, or you can get more. The more research you put into starting archery the better prepared, confident, and happy you'll be to make and enjoy your purchase. Now the review: The bow arrives in three main pieces, along with a string, a knock point, and some padding. It also includes a web address where you can watch a very nice and helpful assembly and first shot tutorial video for this bow: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LvOaLS5zBk The three main pieces are the Riser- where the hand goes, and the top and bottom limbs. Attaching the limbs is VERY easy, just two knobs you unscrew from the riser and then use to screw the limbs on to the riser. And they provide a very solid connection, the limbs aren't going any where. If you bought a bow stringer, then getting the string on won't be too much of a hassle. And will become very easy in short order. Applying the knock point is fairly simple, though you will need some form of RoboGrips. Ideally you should get a pair of 'knocking pliers' but it's not necessary. Lastly, you can apply the adhesive padding. You cut it to fit on the shelf of the riser, then peel off the back and place on the shelf. This bow feels wonderful in the hand, exceptionally comfortable. The bow looks very nice as well, nicely stained wood with simple and sleek limbs. Pulling back on the string bends the limbs nicely and you can feel the power in the bow. I'm a brand new, yet to be archer, but I'm really glad that my first bow is such a well constructed and beautiful bow. I have no idea if this a good bow, by seasoned archer standards... but as a new archer, this bow has been truly awesome.

I can't say much more than: This is a great bow. I purchased both this bow with 50 to 55 pound limbs, as well as additional 25# limbs. I do have a few gripes with this bow, particularly the riser. To attach the limbs, you seat them into metal plates that are screwed into the riser. On my bow, one of the plates is slightly off center. This makes it a little harder to get the nut in to secure the limb & there is a shiny wear spot on the plate. The riser is also big. If you have smaller hands, it's more difficult to hold. The grip is well designed (it's like the grip on a target pistol) & shaped, but it really could stand to be slimmer. Could be really intimidating to first-time shooters. And if you're new to takedowns, the limbs can be confusing. They come in pairs, but only the bottom limb has 'sage' written on it. It's really easy to get confused about which limb goes where. Fortunately the limbs have big grommets on them so you can't put them on backwards. Some kind of mark would really help. Also I think that for this quality & price, the kit should include shelf pads, arrow rests, nock points, & most importantly- some instructions! On the positive side I really love shooting paper with with this bow. Right away I felt like I was shooting better. I purchased a variety of arrows, & get great results with 29" & 30" carbon arrows. For the 25# limbs, 26" arrows are too short for the draw. However, they shoot just fine with the 55# as part of training up to that draw weight. The physical weight of the riser seems to vanish over the course of the day instead of getting heavier, which I attribute to the great shape of the grip. Nock points are a must, as the curve of the shelf allows for wide range of placements. There aren't too many options out there for recurve takedowns, & it's easy to see why Samick is so common. It's a great bow for an affordable price.

I got this bow because I was always interested in getting some experience to use a recurve bow, and I got this specific one because it was rated as one of the best ten recurve bows. Value for price is excellent. The bow is well designed for beauty and functionality. I shot it few times and I can say it is a very good bow. It comes unassembled with instructions on how to put it together. The instructions though do not include anything on complete set up (how to put a nocking point, how to tone it, etc), but that was not an issue as there are lots of good resources on the web that walks you through that. The other thing is you will require a bow stringer for the set up (which is not included), so be sure to order a bow stringer. one last thing, it came with a piece of plastic that looks like an arrow plate, and nothing to cover the arrow rest, bottom line I bought the arrow plate and rest separately through amazon for a very small amount and they worked fine with this bow. I have a compound bow but I have to admit shooting a recurve bow is much more fun, and this specific bow is really amazing in all respects.

I got this 3 years ago to poke around easing back into archery after taking a 25 year long hiatus while my family grew and moved on. Little did I know at that time how much I would end up loving this cheap recurve bow! Now 3 years and a lot of learning later and other than ordering a set of stouter limbs and re tuning the set up for hunting, I have absolutely no desire to replace this sweetheart with any other bow. If you are thinking about getting into recurve archery, I can humbly but with a whole heart recommend this one! Are there "better" bows out there? Probably. But not at this price point or even close to it IMO. 3 years later and still 100% satisfied, and I am a very picky person.

I have been an archer for most of my life, but wanted a cheap take-down bow for traveling. This bow has quite a reputation for "best bang for the buck", so I decided to give it a go. Purchased a 55# model. I'm pretty impressed, but there are a few drawbacks. Overall, I don't think you can find a better bow for $120 bucks, bar none. It shoots pretty well, if not a little loud. Mine had a small amount of twist in one limb, and after inspection, I found it is actually the limb pocket. Not too bad, it is minor and the bow shoots fine. As some others have said, the string it cones with is utter garbage. It is a very thin "endless loop" type, and standard nocks on my wood arrows were too big. I typically use a 14-strand flemish string, and since I make them myself, was able to twist up a new string. If you don't know how to make strings, though, be warned. I would just buy an aftermarket Fast-Flight flemish string when you buy the bow (59" string, or 62" AMO), toss the factory string in the garbage. Anyway, I also purchased 40# limbs, and they appear to be from a different plant. markings are different, as well as the fit and finish. Be aware this bow is made in multiple plants and rebranded, so you may get some variation from bow to bow. There are many places on limbs and riser that it is obvious it is a $120 bow, but you get what you pay for. Overall: Great bargain that cannot be beat in this price range. If you want a cheap takedown "knock around" bow, this is it.

This is a beautiful bow. Unfortunately, I ordered left and needed right. Delivery was perfect. But, some guidance would be very helpful; i.e, dominant eye, draw hand, left or right riser. Bow is so beautiful and well-made, I ordered a right-hand before even processing return/refund. You cannot go wrong by ordering from this company or by purchasing this amazing bow!

This Samick Sage recurve bow is one of the best values on the market today. The bow, limbs, and riser are well made and finish acceptably for a bow in their price range. The ability to purchase limbs for $80 and have the choice of poundage from 25#-60# is just beyond what other bows in the price range can offer. Is the bow perfect? No, it is not perfect there are things that could be better like the finish, the colors, and the string the bow comes with, but really for $140-$160 there really isn't much the bow is missing. Add a better string and maybe a better arrow rest and the cost of the bow would likely jump $40. And you still might not get the exact string/rest that you would prefer. So for what you pay and what you get this bow is just a great deal. Now for the review of it's shooting and accuracy. I ordered the 25# limbs so my 10yr. old daughter could shoot with me when I practice. The limbs fit perfectly and were delivered with no damage. The sting was as I said "cheap" but serviceable. I set up here bow and shot it around 50 times to limber up the limbs a bit. That is when I discovered that the bow has the wrong arrow rest for anything except natural feather fletched arrows. And I didn't have any of those on hand so I had to just adjust my technique to compensate. (Aim further left) Once I got the proper hold over the bow was very consistent and accurate at 15 yards.

The product claims it comes with a string and arrow rest. Well, either that's false or somebody messed up at the warehouse. I received a very lovely stringless bow. Nothing more. No arrow rest. No trimmings. No anything. Just the grip, the two arms, and the screws that connect the latter to the former. I'd love to talk about how wonderfully it shoots, and how splendid it feels to finally have a left-handed bow, but it's surprisingly hard to shoot arrows from a bow without a string. Perhaps if the seller sends me the rest of the product, I can give a proper review. Until then, I can only comment on what I have. The design is very lovely. The wood is finished and quite classy looking. It fits my hand like a glove, and I'm ecstatic to finally have a lefty bow, since shooting lefty with a right-handed bow (or shooting righty with left-hand, left-eye dominance) significantly diminishes accuracy. I'd just like to have the materials to, you know... shoot it.

On reading 100’s of reviews and watching countless videos I decided to get this bow and what can I say wow. I am very satisfied and it is very powerful and very well made . Shoots a good as a £500 bow

there is nothing negative to say about the Samick Sage bow. It is built beautifully by a great company with many years of experience including fabulous winning Olympic equipment. I compete in 3D tournaments with compound bows and own 3 Samicks for fun shooting and hunting small game. Great choice for all archers.
