Coolibar Umbrella Fix
I LOVE the Coolibar Umbrella's. I have 2 of the smaller travel size and one of the Golf size ones which I love because it stands up to high winds really well. I was thrilled when they came out with this big size, but was a little bummed by the bottom of the umbrella, as it wouldn't fit into my umbrella stand as the other reviews stated. The end they have on it might work in soft sand, but I would never be able to get it into my hard ground.I found an easy fix. I took an old pair of wire cutters and slowly snipped off the spiral edges. It took about 5 minutes because it's a fairly soft plastic. I didn't do it neatly and there is a rough edge, but it now fits perfectly into my umbrella stand. :-) Don't let the end stop you from buying this FANTASTIC umbrella. It really drops the heat about 10 to 15 degrees when you are standing under it, unlike normal umbrellas which can sometimes hold in the heat. It hold up really well as I've sunk it in the lake a time or two and was able to rescue it with absolutely no damage.

Works well on the ocean! We took a chance on this but its good on the beach- best to slant it into the wind or it may pull out of the sand but much sturdier than any other light weight umbrella we have had that turns inside ou with an ocean breeze!

Umbrella Sleeve Ripped First Time Used
When putting the umbrella into the sleeve after the first time we used it, the point sliced the cover from end to end. This never happened in 10 years of using our Tommy Bahama umbrella. Very disappointed with the case/sleeve. The umbrella seems fine so far, but we've only used it once. Based on the thin sleeve, I would not recommend this product.

It's kinda cool, but it is a bit on the heavy ...
It's kinda cool, but it is a bit on the heavy side, which may not be such a bad thing. The original product description stated that the Coolibar was the new updated version with the screw-tip so you can stick it in the ground easier. When we received the item, it didn't have the screw-tip. I notice the product description no longer lists it. We returned it.The other thing that was kinda lame about it is that you cannot adjust the height of the umbrella, unless you get a mallet and pound it 3 feet into the sand. Meaning that the umbrella stand way too high when stuck a normal depth in the sand. So it is obvious that when the sun is lower in the sky you have to move your chairs or your towels quite a bit to get under the shade. This product isn't bad, it is a solid build, it's almost there...but not quite.

Great umbrella
We love these umbrellas. My only wish is that they came a little larger. We just ordered another one to expand our shade areas. I think they really do keep you cooler than a plain tarp umbrella, and they seem to hold up well in wind. They are expensive, but we think they're worth it.

Good umbrella, ineffectual post
Great umbrella, but I didn’t notice it came with a small, screw fitting at the bottom of the post. While that may be good for a very fluffy beaches with no wind, the East Coast of Florida requires seriously, solidly placed posts. I have a couple hardcore screw posts, but I can’t fit this umbrella in because it’s already fitted with a weaker screw. I also can’t fit this umbrella into a weight based umbrella stand—again, the screw bottom gets in the way. I wish they would have just left that off the base of the post.

Great for 3 years, until it broke in light wind.
These were great for a few years. Two easily fit across the trunk of our sedan and provided enough shade for our family on the beach. They're very easy to set up and break down.Recently, in a light wind, however, one snapped at the stem and flew along the beach. You can see from the picture that the break happened below the sand. This is a bit surprising for a metal umbrella, and the company has refused to *sell* me a replacement part. If you are looking to buy something for the long term and minimize your carbon footprint, maybe look for a more durable option or company with better customer service.

Have had it for 10 years
I finally need to buy a new umbrella after ten years of hard use. The old one is still functional but a little bent and the carrying bag is kaput. I found the Coolibar umbrella to be sturdy (even at a windy beach) and offer great sun protection. I'm fair and have had a bout of skin cancer so I really wanted one that provided good protection. It's also been easy to schlep to the beach and easy to assemble. I just wish it was a little bigger--but then the schlepping and assembly would be harder! I've never had an umbrella last this long. I'm ordering another one, hope it's the same quality!
