Well worth it! Outstanding product for Comcast
This is a superior product. It works flawlessly with Comcast high-speed internet service. Setup and sync with provider worked perfectly. Once synchronized with the provider was able to reach full/top speeds within about 30-45 minutes. The configuration options when logged into this modem/router are incredible. It is like having a business-class device in my home. Since the wireless is "N", you'll want to have computers/devices with Wireless-N network cards to take full advantage of the wireless speed. Using any of the 4 Gigabit ports on the back of this unit almost guarantees you the bandwidth you need for your permanent home office laptop/desktop. Then you're not sharing a "piece of the pie" in terms of the wireless signal -- with all those iPhones, iPads, Roku, laptops, gaming consoles, etc.The downside of the modem is the WiFi range. Due to the wireless spectrum being used, 5.0 GHz (narrower than 2.4 GHz), the WiFi range just isn't all that great. The two external antennas are not removable. I'd advise that if you live in a larger home that you add a wireless-N range extender to the mix.The manufacturer's web site has a very good technical support area and you will find everything you need there. I'd suggest first downloading the PDF manual for the unit so you can walk through the setup of all the detailed options to fine-tune it. You'll especially want to turn off services you don't use on your network or want to allow in/out. But out of the box the default settings are secure. Even the wireless network security is pre-set. You should change the network name (SSID) to something of your liking, else your neighbors will know you got a new wireless router. ;-)I would HIGHLY recommend this device. It's more than the Motorola cable modems, but it's well worth it. This is clearly one of those items where you get what you pay for. You'll be able to get your service level bandwidth now. The junk hardware that you lease from Comcast isn't worth a penny. Their service is great, but get your own modem and you'll not regret it.

Excellent combination cable modem and wireless router, works for Time Warner
When Time Warner Cable announced they were upping their equipment rental fees, I immediately started searching for a compatible replacement. I wanted a combination wireless router and cable modem because it's simply easier to deal with a single piece of equipment. The Zoom was decently well reviewed, as well as priced right, so I decided to give it a try.I've been very happy with this purchase over the last 6 months or so. My connection is excellent and fairly stable. About once a week I will have to restart the modem to reestablish a connection, but I have had that problem with every device I've ever used with Time Warner. The administrative menus for the Zoom are well laid out and full featured. You can manipulate just about every aspect of your connection. Port forwarding is easy to set up, as are static IP addresses. It is a simple matter to switch your wireless channel, and the UI page will actually tell you if a particular channel is experiencing lots of interference.Overall this is a good device for a good price, it does its job and it actually looks really good sitting on a shelf, no ugly electronics here. A solid buy.---------------EDIT:I'm amending my original 5 star review and knocking off a star for the following reason: This router does not have any settings for DNS server. By default your DNS settings come from your ISP, but most routers will allow you to set a new DNS location (such as 8.8.8.8 for the Google DNS server). This router does not allow you to do that, it has no DNS settings, so you have to adjust DNS on each individual device if you want to.If you wonder why that's important, an example: A few months ago, Time Warner (at least in my local area) began using their DNS servers to redirect traffic to their own proprietary web pages the first time you used a particular device. So when you'd open your browser and expect to see your home page (for most people this is google or MSN) instead you would be greeted by a Time Warner page filled with notices and advertisements. On a computer or tablet that is annoying, but for a device like a nest thermostat or a smartTV that redirection actually breaks the device. Using a third party DNS would fix the problem, but this router does not allow that very simple and standard behavior, so I instead had to spend a couple hours on the line with Time Warner asking them to stop that redirection.
