Great chair. Tricky foot ring adjustment
I've had this chair about 2 years and love it. The foot ring recently became loose, and I reached down to find the screw knob to tighten it up like on my older chair and was surprised to find it didn't have one. I then saw a sticker saying to turn the ring clockwise to tighten. My problem was that the entire ring so loose that it was flopping around the center post, so no amount of turning it would do anything. I then flipped the chair upside down, let the foot ring drop to the bottom side of the chair so I had more room with the smaller post , stuck a metal ruler across the grooves that normally grab the larger center post, and gave the ring a clockwise spin. I spun it as far as it would go, but then it was too small to lower down onto the larger center post below, so I had to unscrew it (counterclockwise) a little bit at a time until it would fit onto the larger bottom post. Once seated on the bottom post, I tightened it up by hand as far as it would go, then flipped the chair upright, sat on it, and tightened it even some more. I feel like I've got a new chair again, with a solid foot ring. I use it like a step to get into my tall chair, so having it stable make it safer.

Well-built stool for the money
Working from home for a year now and investigated a bunch of stools. No-name imports about half the price, but all seemed to have an unhappy customer that had the hydraulic lift blow out on them and the chair/ the person tumbled over.I tested the Aeron HM Stool, which was very nice but three times the price and would take several months for delivery!!This Steelcase stool is very sturdy, well made, and good value for money. It's very comfortable and has a basic, horizontal, adjustable back support piece! I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to put together. The stool is somewhere between Medium and Large vs. the Aeron I believe. The finishing is excellent in terms of the fabric and arm pads. The fabric is durable. I live in a hot climate & the fabric is a bit heavier/ warmer than I'd like, but it's obviously good for a lot of wear and tear. Yes, it's an entry level stool and doesn't have the same level of adjustments as an Aeron, but I'm certainly pleased with my purchase! The only mishap was the first time I ordered, the seller never got it to the shipping place and so after a few weeks waiting, Amazon agreed to cancel and refund. The second order was fulfilled on time.

Solid comfortable chair, looking forward to long lifespan
My first ergonomic chair. I work from home and have been using your standard pleather office chairs, but the pleather wears out so fast that I thought I try a higher-end chair fabric chair. So far, it feels good to sit in. Cushiony but firm seat. Great tension on the back for leaning; it has three settings. Helps keep my posture upright. The armrests look like hard plastic but they give a little; they have several settings in four directions which means I can have my arms supported at any position I pick.Looks very modern and has a slim "profile" so it does not take up too much space, but that doesn't mean it is for skinny people. I have a wide butt and thighs that have plenty of space to expand further. The one drawback is that it is not deep enough to sit cross-legged, which I shouldn't do, but like to do a lot.I'm content with having spent the extra money and I'm a tightwad. Looking forward to finding out the lifespan of the Steelcase 435B00 Series 1 Office Stool.

Probably a five, but it went back
I’m familiar with the brand and know this would have been a great chair, and the price was right. Unfortunately, it was the wrong color and not as pictured. The chair frame was black (not white/gray). As I later learned, “nickel” is the color of the gray seat fabric, not the chair frame which is black. Customer service pointed out that the black frame color is mentioned in the description (so why show it in white at all?). I didn’t even assemble it. It pained me to send it back but I wanted a white/gray drafting chair, not a black/gray one which is the only color available from Amazon for this drafting chair. Too bad.

Probably the best chair for the price if you have a tall desk
tl;dr - if you need an ergonomic, high-quality office stool because you have a high desk/standing desk, this is the product for youI did an almost frustrating amount of research to find the right chair. My workspace requirements mean I need a chair that rises above the standard ~21”. I personally believe this is the best stool/drafting chair for the price. I couldn’t find another website for this chair out there that wasn’t sketchy and I’m happy with my decision. The chair came in 4 pieces and took 3 mins or less to assemble. Super easy. Two gripes: the instructions have a QR code to an install video (cool feature) but the YouTube video is private so I couldn’t watch it. Ultimately unnecessary as it was so easy to assemble, but still. Secondly, the footrest is pointless. It’s too high up on the chair for me to comfortably rest my feet on, and it doesn’t protrude out far enough. I bought a separate ergonomic footrest that arrived in a week and will hopefully work out.
