DOES THE JOB QUICK AND EASY
Iโve used a few different cable slitters in the past several years and I found them to be a pain to deal with and so expensive, I think the first one I purchased was over $250 and the replacement blades were like $60. I work with fiber Optic cable and having to deal with some pretty gnarly cables, some double armored. Whatโs great about this cable slitter is it has handles on both sides, I never understood why a lot of them only have a grip on one side it made it hard to cut into the cable and keep it at the right angle as you slit it. I also had issues with blades breaking to easy and even had issues with pieces just vibrating off while just sitting in a tool bag. I like the way this one is designed, simple not a lot of little parts to lose, blade adjustment is so easy just turn the adjustment wheel, no tools needed to adjust blade depth. Blades hold up well plus comes with spares which are also easy to replace and of course there are grip on both ends. If you strip a lot cable like I do, I highly recommend this tool. I have nothing to say negative about this stripper so far.

Works as it should but, hing pin broke 3rd strip. Fixed with 3/16 bolt and nut.

Hard to use
Quality is good, but good luck holding the cable in place without kinking or breaking tubes or worse the fibers

More robust than the picture
Far more robust than I had hoped for. The tool is 8.25" long, 3" tall, & 1.25" wide at the middle. The steel blades are .05" thick and protrude into the insulation 5/32". Mine came with a much appreciated extra set of cutters. These can be sharpened using the edge of a stone. The brass knife holders are not designed to be refitted with new blades which is the only improvement I could ask for. If I get to the point of needing to replace the blades I will tap threads in the brass knife holder and add a steel screw to clamp the blade. There is no brand on the tool so good luck ordering oem replacement blades later.

good value
I haven't used this on armored cables yet but that isn't the reason why I bought it. I got it to slit central core buffer tube in 864 cables, and although it is a little clunkier to use in one hand than the Sumitomo buffer tube slitter I used to borrow and use, it doesn't cost around $1,700 either.
