QS-36 Quick Release Plate

I needed a couple more of these as I have a macro rail and another camera. Instead of the hassle of taking it off and on I could easily swap out what I was using. This is a better design for attachment as a d-ring is on the screw already. The original needed a coin to turn the screw into whatever I was going attach. The coin option is also available on the new one but the d-ring is just so much more convenient and not flimsy. This attachment is solid and fit is perfect.

I purchased this to be able to quickly use a second camera on my Vanguard PH-304 which I love. Yes, this pin is plastic but for my purposes, it doesn't matter. Yes, the surface is not cork but plastic/neoprene like nibbed material, which has worked without difference/issue. A significant improvement over the original shoe is the set screw with a flip up ring that has proven very helpful to quickly and positively tighten it without mashing a finger nail and in the absence of a coin or screw driver. I've not had the dimensional issues other reviews have mentioned and if I did some electrical tape could shim it if necessary. I haven't weighed it, but it feels a smidgen lighter than the original. My cameras range from 357g 12.6oz to 606g 1.34lb.

Great shoe that fits my vanguard tripod and window mount. Easy finger screw on bottom that allows for easy installation unlike some that require a screwdriver.

The quick shoe measures 1 5/16" x 1 5/16" at the narrower top (I'm American damn it!. . . but, because I'm also insecure and want you to like me, I have done the conversion for you - it's 3.3337cm). The flared shoe bottom measures 1 5/8" x 1 5/8" (4.1275 x 4.1275 cm) My Petra Tripod opening is 1 5/8" x 1 5/8" (4.1275 x 4.1275 cm) across the top A nifty feature of this little shoe is that you can customize it with your choice of electrical or duct tape,(plain or fancy!) to get a perfect fit, so I added a couple layers of the aforementioned tape (in a very careful, sans wrinkles, OCD kind of way around the edges). While it's true this shoe doesn't come with the lovely cork in-lay as pictured, it does have a somewhat softer "spongy" fill, if that's important to anyone (and I'm not sure why it would be, but there you have it).

Works good but the spring loaded pin is plastic! I wish they offered one with a steel pin because a large spotting scope is hard on the plastic one

I have a Vanguard Espod 233AP and it fit perfectly and is as snug as could be. I wish the people posting reviews saying "it did not fit" would include model numbers. I was hesitant to buy this because of those reviews, but glad I did.
