This is the front right for a 2007-2014 Honda CR-V.

Q: Are these Tier 1 parts?

I've been a mechanic for over 40 years. I'm not sure of what specifics you are looking for with respect to a particular part being considered for a particular tier. In reference to the Monroe 272491, I can say it is manufactured with state-of-the art design and components for a premium replacement part. It is unlikely that this exact number is being supplied as OEM. However, Monroe supplies many OEM's with parts for vehicle production. This is not true of the generic, cheaply made imports. Premium replacement parts often perform better than the originals. So, if tier 1 means: 'as good as, or better than OE' , then this part, 272491 qualifies. I replaced front and rear on this vehicle and was very impressed with the performance - quiet, smooth ride and yet increased stability.

Q: Anyone need to tighten the middle rod nut when installing these or are they factory tight?

I believe they were factory tightened as a unit. In fact, I remember a sticker that said don't mess with this at risk of personal injury.

Q: Does front right mean front passenger side?

As long as your vehicle is left hand drive this unit would be for the passenger side.
