Cute Packaging
I love the packaging for this product - the large tin, and the product logo of the dressed olive. Adorable. This may be heresy, but I'm actually OK with vasoline in lip balm (that's what they give you in the hospital)) and paraffin (that's what makes it stick), but if there are better, more environmentally-conscious alternatives, I'm up for those. I did find the Valquer soothing, if a bit greasy feeling that has me constantly smacking my lips. It also smells faintly of an unexpectedly olive odor which doesn't bother me, but is a little odd.I was surprised that they would list that the lip balm is manufactured according to ISO 9000 and ISO 140001. These frameworks help organizations develop documentation and growth processes that are on par with the industry. I'm not a QA engineer on a high tech line or a purchaser of a printer, so I'm not sure I'm that interested that the company conforms to the industry-standard processes - but maybe I'm missing something here. And lastly, the cruelty free tag; the emblem is similar to the EU leaping bunny tag, but I couldn't find Valquer or Laboratorios Valquer listed on the EU Leaping Bunny Cruelty Free companies list. I didn't see any reference on the Valquer product web site either, so I thought maybe it was specific to their U.S. products; I checked US cruelty-free lists (Peta, etc, and U.S. / Canada Leaping Bunny) listings but couldn't find the company, which was disheartening. Perhaps, again, I'm missing something.

Darling Tin & Initially Felt Pleasant-Strong Fragrance & Other Known Irritants (Irritates My Lips)
This Valquer “Olive Love” lip balm comes in a darling tin that’s seems to be a generous size. The balm is firm but soft and glides on well. It’s relatively lightweight and has more of a buttery or oily than waxy feel, but it doesn’t feel too oily or greasy to me. It has a feel I find similar to how Vaseline feels on my lips, but the balm has wax that makes it a bit thicker and it is free of petrolatum. This has a lot of ingredients (posted) but the main ingredient is castor oil.I don’t taste flavor but this has a moderately strong scent. I’d describe the scent as fruity and I feel like I smell a whiff of vanilla, but that’s just my guess and own perception as I have no idea what the intended scent is supposed to be. There’s something uncommon about the scent, but I like the scent. I don’t like that parfum (fragrance) is the 8th ingredient and this also has other fragrance ingredients. The tin is so cute that I was predisposed to like the balm. When first applied, it felt moisturizing and made my lips feel protected and comfortable. It seemed like a product I’d like to use especially at night. But my lips became inflamed and bumpy after using the balm a few times (and are now peeling). My lips have been sensitive on contact to other balms, so this may not bother others and I can’t say for sure what causes my sensitivity. However, while free of lanolin, this balm has some common lip balm irritants such as castor oil, parfum, limonene, linalool, citral, beeswax and BHT (which I always avoid and don’t want to ingest). I love the tin and initially liked the feel of the balm fairly well. But my sensitivity resulted in a closer look at ingredients, and this has a number of potential irritants. So I’m reducing what would have been a 4-star rating by another star due to the number of potential irritants. 3 stars. Made in Spain.

Cute Moisturizing Lip Balm
Ok this lip balm scores points just for being so darn cute. It does glide on the lips and feels soft and moisturizing. According to the product description it is free of petrolatum, vaselina, paraffin and lanolin. I thought vaselina was the same as petrolatum so not sure why that is listed twice. Speaking of vaselina or petrolatum, I know many folks may not like it but personally I do. It has been very helpful when I have had skin issues from the sun. And it is recommended by many Drs. for recovering from biopsies, cryosurgery, etc.On another note, while I appreciate the company is 100% free of plastic in the packaging, I was not keen that there was no seal on the tin.Overall, I think this is a cute, affordable lip balm with nice moisturizing properties with antioxidant benefits.

Great balm, generous quantity & reasonable price, but my product was not sealed....
This is an adorable tin with a nice quality, non-waxy lip balm. I ordered it for my granddaughter because she goes through a lot of different lip products and like most young teens, I thought she would enjoy the cute graphics on the tin. However, since the balm arrived with no outer packaging or seal of any sort, I wasn't comfortable giving it to her for that purpose. I read several other reviews that mentioned the same thing, so apparently this was not just an error or an anomaly. I am using it for my cuticles, elbows & heels, instead. The balm has a light lemony/fruity fragrance and works very well. The tin is generously sized and only a small amount goes a long way so the 25 mL of balm should last a long time. The price is very reasonable and would definitely be worth purchasing, if only the product was properly sealed.

Cute Green Tin
The Valquer Lip Balm comes in really cute green tin. It is wax-like, like most lip balms. The weight is listed at 0.85 ounces, several times more than in the standard lip balm dispensers. It contains Olive Oil, Cocoa Butter and Shea Butter, my favorite. It also has an ingredient made from Palm Oil. The Valquer provides good relief for chapped lips and feels good after it is applied. I am not sure how happy I am to carry the tin around, compared to the much lighter weight lip balm dispensers.

Poor Packaging, Worse Texture
Like that this lip balm comes in a cute tin, and is paraben, paraffin and petroleum jelly free. Don't like that it came totally unsealed and, in my case, badly dented. The texture is also odd, as it doesn't spread smoothly and quickly turns more oil-like, which is not my favorite balm style, as it doesn't seem to last long. This is worse with a sort of drier gel texture, that you have to work to spread out. As a lip balm connoisseur—I've got a balm in every coat pocket, car cup holder, purse and bag—this didn't do it for me.
