We are a household of Java Junkies, that especially applies to me if there was a way to set up an IV of coffee to take intravenously I would most likely give this serious consideration.Much like when Proctor & Gamble bought out Braun, the build quality suffered. I've read this is the same scenario when Conair aquired Cuisinart. However the brand still ranks high according to Consumer Reports. After five years our Cuisnart coffee and tea maker model DCC-1200 began to fade, the coffee just wasn't hot enough making for a poor brew and so the process of seeking out a replacement began.Consumer reports rates this model at a 64 out of 100, not bad but not a CR recommendation. The Cuisinart Perfect Temp 14 cup scored an 84 however spec by spec I saw no significant difference in what it takes to brew an exceptional pot of coffee.The price difference between the two is an insignificant 10 bucks so based on both functionality, looks and appearance we chose this model and so far so good or rather great.Another strike against the Perfect Temp is that replacement carafes are only available through Cuisinart and the turn around time is 10-14 days. As for the DCC-1200 replacement carafes can be ordered from Amazon, purchased at stores like Bed Bath and Beyond and the cost is painless. So when you slam your carafe against a counter or drop it you can have new one in 24 hours as opposed to waiting 2 weeks.When we bought this old house a few years ago the entire inside had to be gutted - except for the kitchen, the bright red counter tops and red accents were like a 1950's kitchen, frozen in time. So I have to admit that getting this coffee maker in metallic red makes for a wonderful accent.Quality Touches:* Brew Performance is excellent at 195 - 205 degrees. I've been keeping fish for over 40 years and use activated charcoal to remove impurities from the water in my aquariums. It's important to note that if you commit to using the filters which I would recommend they should be replaced every four weeks.When activated charcoal has absorbed its full potential to neutralize chlorine, fluoride and a myriad of other impurities that make your coffee taste better - the charcoal will then release acids which will make even the finest Arabica bean coffee taste bitter.As for the flavor - this coffee maker produces a steaming hot full bodied cup of Joe. And so far we love it. Great Retro styling, no unnecessary bells and whistles means less of a chance for things to break - sometimes less really is more.Simply an excellent coffee maker that delivers a hot, lovely, full bodied cup of coffee time after time.Highly Recommended

We wanted a new coffee maker that would be easier to pour without spilling, and this one is perfect for that. The buttons, dials and clock are easier to access and use, than our old maker that had them on the lower part of the maker on a black plastic panel. Plus, over time the markings on the old maker wore off.There is one negative, which is that the two dials on the front have very thin white lines that are meant to represent arrows and they are difficult for us to see. That is the reason I didn't rate this as 5.After you lean in close to turn the left dial to set the clock or to set how long you want it to stay on before turning off, be sure to turn it to brew, or it won't turn on the next time you want to manually turn it on. The right dial is to set the carafe temperature to L, M, or H, and has that same problem. So, if the coffee is not hot enough or too hot, be sure to lean in and make sure it is set at the right letter for you. They do work well when set properly and do not turn too easily, so they won't get switched accidentally if your hand or a cup brushes passed them.We have not tried the carbon filter as we use filtered well water, so we do not have chlorine in our water or any particulates.We have not tried the programmable turn on. We had problems with most of our previous machines where the timer would create more problems than it solved. It will shut off on it's own after using just the manual brew switch, which we like, for the safety feature in case we forget and leave the house when it's on. We like that we can choose how many hours, up to 4, to have it set to always shut off. Our last one always shut off at 2 hours and we would find the coffee getting cold before we were halfway through the pot.We like that the lid stays down and does not flip around. There is no thumb depressor to lift the top of the lid, if you are use to doing that to make the opening bigger to fill it with water. At first I thought we would have to always remove and replace the entire lid to fill it, or use some other container, but I have figured out how to aim the faucet so that the water, at lower pressure, will go directly in through the pour spout. You can still remove the entire lid to wash it.I like that there is more metal than plastic, and that the plastic has a solid feel to it, not cheap feeling the way some plastic appliances feel. And, it does look nice on the counter.I have already recommended it to some friends.

Easy to clean and easy to use

Es mi segunda cafetera Brew central, una la compre en Costa Rica y la otra en México por amazon, el envio y tiempo perfecto, la cafetera es un modelo basico, sin moledoras y otras ventajas, pero que cumple y cumple bien, la primera que compre tiene mas de 9 años de uso diario y sigue como si nada, este modelo me gusto porque lo vi en la tv que usaban en la serie de Two and a Half Men, y es ahi donde descubri Cuisnart, ahora la veo que la usan en Bing Bang Theory.

The coffee does not stay warm, have to put my cup in microwave.

機能的なことを言えば、特にすぐれているわけではないのに、デザインとカラーが気に入って2台目です。1台目はポットのガラスを誤って割ってしまって。本当はポットだけ買えればよかったのですが。
