Very cute and fits wider sticks of butter.

We prefer to leave our butter on the counter, and occasionally buy European-style butters like Kerrygold or Plugra. Many of the wider butter dishes have a deep bottom part where you put the butter and a shallow top, which I don't care for - I like being able to slice my butter straight down, rather than digging around in a container to get it out. Love the vintage colors and style, and the cute-casual "BUttER" lettering is adorable! Works great on the counter, although I do feel I have to be a little careful with it - since it's ceramic, I definitely don't want to drop that lid!

OHMYWORD IT'S SO BIG ! ! ! AND SO OVER THE TOP ! ! ! It makes me smile. I think I'm going to put googly eyes on it it's so cute. Exceeds my expectations. Absolutely adore and love the handle on the lid. Very comfortably holds a solid pound of butter. I couldn't be happier.

OK that is an exaggeration but I was really amazed at how big this very sturdy dish was. You could probably put last night's left-overs in it. OK maybe not the leftovers but definitely big enough for a severed human hand-if you had one. The description says it can hold European size buter blocks. Well those Europeans really love their butter. I can put 4 full American sized butter sticks under the top. Which by the way has a very handy handle. It is solid and somewhat heavy -maybe a type of enameled stoneware. I bought the yellow one -well because butter... and it is a bright cheerful yellow which one could see from space. This is a fun, solid dish to hide your butter collection and it definitely keeps my cats from licking the butter which they used to love to do. They are not happy with me now but I ingest less fur after buttering my toast.

Heavy ceramic, well made and looks great on the counter. It is HUGE. It will hold the one pound butter blocks without a problem. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. At last "large" butter dish actually mean what it said.

Good quality item. Easily large enough to handle a full sized 454g/1lb of butter with plenty of room and without the lid squishing it.

My only goal in a butter container was to not have to modify the shape of the butter to fit. (And actually cover the whole thing of course). The advertising and reviews can be confusing, but I was pretty sure this was the closest fit. Though, more than I wanted to pay, it was very worth it.The whole stick of butter does not fit, you have to shave off a sliver going along the top or bottom if you don't want it sticking to the top of the lid, which I don't. This is a good amount for using in a box of mac n cheese so I try to line up taking the butter out with making one of those.

I wish I’d bought a brighter colour than white. I’d also say that yes, it does fit a full 454 g of butter but if that’s not important for you than I’d get something smaller. The lip on this extends a fair bit. I’d rather cut the butter and have a butter dish with a smaller footprint.
