Good 25 Minute Interval Workout
This is a 25 minute workout with 60 second intervals and 20 second rests (that allow you to adjust the TRX and/or your position). Of course, the workout requires a TRX suspension trainer (or its equivalent) and enough room to lay down and to do side lunges. The biggest downside of the DVD was sound quality. It was recorded outside and, whenever the wind picked up, the wind became louder than the speaker. And, it was annoying to listen to the wind. The other downside was the cost for a 25 min workout. On the other hand, I think this DVD will actually motivate me on days when I just can't get myself to do a long workout. There's a lot packed into 25 minutes: a dynamic warm up, legs & glutes, upper back, shoulders, biceps/triceps, and core. There's no cool down. Other than the last core exercise (a killer) each exercise was 60 seconds. A woman does the exercises, while a man talks you through everything. I was impressed at how many cues went into each 60 second interval: what muscle should be working, how to make it easier, how to make it harder, and what shouldn't be working (usually the lower back). The number of repetitions performed by the woman is listed in the upper right hand corner of the screen, but that's pretty much useless since most of the exercises are facing the TRX, facing the ground, or facing the ceiling. Fortunately, the cuing makes up for most of the problems resulting from not being able to see the screen. The DVD is listed as intermediate/advanced. I was able to do the workout with an ankle injury, although I probably wouldn't recommend that for anyone new to TRX. I have no idea about the guide, whether it's waterproof, or any of that nonsense; it's still safe and sound in the case.
