Why don't you include a template for drilling these blind holes less than an inch from the tire? Do you care about customers?

This extension lined up with the shorter extension that came on my bike, no drilling required. If you do have to drill new holes I would think a piece of sheet metal placed on the tire will protect the drill from making contact with the tire.

Nope. Used silicon that cured while using clamps to avoid drilling.
