De'Longhi Active Line Kettle, anti-scale filter, 1.7 Liters, 360° swivel base, KBLA3001.R, Red

Researched before buying this kettle. Which and Good Housekeeping gave good reviews and mostly positive on all the reviews I read on Amazon. Only received a couple of days ago but so far I am pleased. Nice looking kettle. Not too expensive. It's not too heavy. The on switch feels quite sturdy. I'm not a huge fan of push buttons to open the lid as I had another brand kettle where this broke quite easily. So fingers crossed. It's not noisy either.

Bought this to replace an old Bosch which saws starting to leak. Only had the new one a week, so too soon to comment on longevity. It boils quickly, would say a little noise than the Bosch but not intrusively so and seems to take a bit longer to switch off, but again not so much as to be annoying. The most annoying thing I’ve found is the position of the water gauge makes it more difficult to fill for small amounts of water. Getting used to it and not really a deal breaker. Love the bright red colour, a good change from black. All in all a decent kettle and so far I’m happy with it.

So far the kettle is great, yes the display that shows the water is funny but I don't have a problem with it as I fill the kettle using a water carafe. It would be inconvenient if holding the held as you won't see the measurement when filling from the tap.My main gripe with this so far, is that I am unable to find any replacement filters for it, only the slightly more expensive De'Longhi Kettles have replacement parts. My old kettle was great still, but the filter was gone so had to throw it away. It would be a shame to have to throw this one away if a £3 filter got damaged. Just be aware of this when buying.

Initially we liked the kettle and it worked fine. We’d always been sceptical about getting a plastic kettle as we feared the water would taste plasticky. In fact, the taste seems to wear off after a few days and is better than recent metal kettles we've had, which always tasted chemically.However, towards the end of the first year the lid sometimes failed to latch fully. This meant it could burst open as the water started to boil and prevented it from switching off automatically. The problem is due to the latch mechanism becoming sticky and appears to be a result of water deposits inside the lid. This is probably worse in hard water areas.The lid spring has also weakened, meaning it’s often necessary to assist it by hand to open fully for filling.This is unfortunately typical of modern consumer appliances which aren’t designed to last 10-20 years as they used to be and instead need to be replaced every couple of years or so. If they were built more robustly they might be more expensive but would last a lot longer and be better environmentally. Rant over!If you’re handy with repairs it is possible to service the latch mechanism and extend its useful life. I attach photos of the interior of the lid. You can access it by removing the two screws on the underside of the lid and use a plastic tool (failing that your partner’s credit card) to unclip the two catches which secure the top section. You can then clean up the latch mechanism and lubricate very lightly (you don’t want to contaminate the water).

Love the colour. Hope as long lasting as our same colour, same make toaster
