A biased review
Okay so... This is my favorite game. Maybe. It's definitely in the top 3. The story-line is both riveting and powerful, the game-play is solid and has tons of replay value. There are a few endings and dozens of paths to take to reach them, there are many ways to play through. The characters are very real and likable, even the villainous ones. Now that I'm done gushing, on to the review. This game is not for everyone. First of all, it is a strategy game. This means that you have to use your brain. Not trying to be insulting, but if your looking for a relaxo game or a hack and slash where you don't have to think than this isn't the game for you. It isn't as hard as most strategy games, but it does have a perfectionist aspect to it. What I mean is, while the battles aren't as crazy as disgaea or others, THERE IS NO GRINDING. There are a set number of battles to be fought, so it's totally possible that you will screw yourself over to the point where you can not win and have to start the game over. This has never happened to me, but I know that it can. There is also the main gimmick in the game: Sin. If you want to get the bonuses at the end of each level (you want the bonuses at the end of each level) than you'll have to reap Sin. That means dealing more damage than the enemies have hp or killing of your allies to gain special abilities and garner a lot of Sin.I highly recommend this game, but only to those who are willing to stick through the lack of crutches and get to the rich well of gaming bliss that is Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume.Ps: View this game not in the context of its predecessor, they are very very different games. I like this one better, some like VP1 better.

For My Collector's
The game was sealed, so I decided to take pictures for the next person. I'm really happy I got this hidden gem.My copy was sealed! The ESRB is for Teen. It also ends with "USA" on the cartridge. If you are hunting, this is what you want.

A true, if somewhat misguided, SRPG.
Look, I'll be the first to say it; the game is excellent, a lot of fun, but there are a FEW missions which are meant to work as stopgaps just for the sake of stopgapping. Oh, you're supposed to protect that person all the way across the map from dying? Well don't count on them defending themself; your boned if you don't rush to them. And Heugot, FRIGGIN' HEUGOT.Overall it's a lot of fun, if lacking on a few missions. It's interesting to play through from the human side of things for a change.

Better than Thor.
I really like the Valkyrie Profile's take on Norse mythology. Marvel's Thor movies are eh, and the comics are hit and miss to me. This game is the first not playing as a Valkyrie, and it is for games what the Star Trek TNG episode (not the movie) "First Contact" does. This flips the perspective from you playing as the Gods to the mere mortals below, with a touch of realism. The characters are believable, and all have Shakespeare like tragic flaws. Replay value is high, the only downside is that the voice over dialogue was like 90% cut for the English version. Instead of doing like Chaos Rings for the iOS and leave in the entirety of the Japanese voice actor spoken dialogue, this game dubbed just small pieces and cut out the rest. I know this because while living in Japan I bought many of the original versions of games because it was never a guarantee the game would be localized in English.

A Great DS Game
As a Huge VP series fan this is a game that I coudn't wait to get my hands on.The Pros:- I have thoroughly enjoyed the fresh prespective of trying to kill Lenneth valkyrie instead of fighting on her side.- The Sin factor actually transformed battles from your typical strategy battles to something way more enjoyable.- The branching and the character stories and how each branch shows you a different side to them kept me saving and trying out different character combinations so the replay value is high. The Cons:- My only comment on this game was the endings. The best ending was completely unsatisfactory and I actually found the average ending to be better. I wish Square-Enix put some more thought into it to end it with a bang.Overall Great addition to your DS RPG collection.

Unexpected region
Be advised that this item, when sold by Amazon partner vendor CDRomUSA, is the European version of the game. Although it can be played on US-region Nintendo DS, DS Lite and DSi hardware, the documentation and packaging may not be in English. As a best practice, contact Amazon partner vendors and ask if they're selling this item from the appropriate region.
