LED Smart Remote Control for GoPro Hero 13/12/11/11MINI/10/9/8 MAX

I just got this and so far, it is nice to have. It came with OK readable instructions. It was easy to pair with the camera. I have turned the remote and the camera on/off about a dozen times and the two units stayed paired. It turns the camera on/off. I can change functions on the camera. I can wear it on my wrist or on a remote holder on my new camera pole. I don't have to touch the camera when remotely mounted. I have the camera set to start shooting and recording video as soon as the camera is turned on. That feature should be good for preserving battery life. The mode indicators on the remote are well lit while under operation making it easy to see in the dark. The GoPro OEM remote has no lighting at all for the display. It can't be seen in the dark. This unit is not cheap but it's well under the price of the GoPro brand remote. Funny thing though, I went to the GoPro support site and many complained that the OEM will not pair with the camera. Go figure?The one thing I don't like is the charging cable set-up. It has a magnetic connection. The connector comes off way too easy. I would much rather have a unit with a type C charging port. I don't think it would be any cost difference to produce. Lot's of people complain about the charging method. It only took 15 minutes to charge when I got it. It must of been mostly charged up when it arrived.I would have given the remote 5 stars if it came with better charging setup as described before.

Use it on my GoPro Hero 9 Black. Cheaper that OEM remote

Once paired with my hero 8, this little thing works great! Works as advertised.I did this several times and both the remote and camera functioned perfectly. I attached the remote to a camera bag which I placed around my neck and went for some test dives. Different colors of lights make my operation more accurate underwater. As expected, it functioned exactly how I wanted it to.Highly recommended!

My honest opinion, this is way better then the original GP remote and at a better price. I don’t have a problem with the charging cable, just need to position it on a steady flat surface and let it fully charge.

Works well, but my charging cord has malfunctioned. Overheated somehow! If not for this, 5 stars!

My application is simple, a remote control to turn video recording on and off and this remote does the trick! And it comes with a bonus.........IT ALSO WORKS WITH A HERO 7!!!Maybe the remote doesn't have all the features available for Hero 7, I don't know, as all I need is to start and stop a recording.When I do travelographies, I mount the Hero 7 to the outside of the Jeep. I was using an app on my phone to remote control the Hero 7. Now I don't need to dedicate my phone to the remote function and can use the Yoctop remote.I paired the remote with both a Hero 8 and a Hero 7. Both were easy to pair. Just set the camera to Connections/Connect Device/GoPro App and push the wrench button on the remote for 3 seconds and within 2 seconds, the remote paired!The flexible wrist strap is convenient too so I don't have to worry about another thing falling and losing it on the floor during a trip.Just to be sure, I redid the pairing several times to make certain the remote would work with the Hero 7 since it's not mentioned as a compatible remote and I never had a problem.All is not golden however! -- NON STANDARD CHARGING PORT: One annoying feature of the remote is the charging port. It's not a USB like every other device in the universe. It's got some magnetically attached contact. It's a unique cable that's going for sure going to get lost. I'll probably tape it to the remote so I never lose it. -- POORLY HELD CONNECTOR: Also, the connector comes off very easily. Sometimes on long recording Ill connect a power source to the cameras so I don't have to change batteries. That won't happen with the remote because the magnetically held contacts will just fall off with a jiggle. -- CONTROL KEYS NOT BACKLIT: at night you cannot see the 4 control buttons especially with the 4 lights above them lit. The control buttons are not backlit.I wanted to give this 5 stars because it does a Hero 7, but operating time is so weak at 4 hours and the charging connector is so bad that I have to hold back 1 star which is probably generous.

Month ago I bought the GoPro Hero 9 and it's an amazing camera. To make it even better I have been picking up accessories. Couple weeks ago I purchased the official remote direct from GoPro and it's been fantastic. Thought I'd give this one a try to find out if it was better in any way. I have to say I think I like this remote better than the official one. nothing wrong with the official remote, but this one has nice bright lights to show you what's happening, when it's recording, bluetooth and more. And I don't know about any one else, but I find the buttons on the GoPro can take some muscle to push, just not easy to click.Connecting the remote to the camera was a little finicky for me, but I might have done something wrong, but it did connect successfully. After it's connected the buttons on the remote work as they should. Plus, as I said, the icon lights on the remote are so nice and bright, so easy to see.Remote itself is well made, great finish and it feels good in your hand. It also has a kind of rubber cover so it stays in your hand better. Remote is also so nice and small, easily fit in your pocket.Only slight dislike, as the other reviewer said, the charging cord is a made only for this magnetic charging cord. It works just fine and I do like that it is magnetic. But, what if you lose it? Or what if it goes bad? Would have been so much better if both ends were USB, so much better. I don't think it's enough to knock the product a star, just not a fan.It is a great remote and works great. Price is a little high for an off brand in my opinion, more so if you have the GoPro subscription. If you are okay with the price, I would recommend, I do like it.
