Android Phones for Seniors in easy steps: Updated for Android v7 Nougat

I bought this for the mother in law as a bit of a joke based on her wanting a digital camera for Christmas. She already had a decent Samsung mobile phone so I thought I'd get her this and highlight the camera section! Not only did she read that but she's actually enjoyed going through the rest of the book to learn more about her phone and tablet.

I am the genuine article. A septuagenarian with an ancient, basic Nokia and Fire7 tablet, desperately trying to drag myself into the 21st century. So, having regard to the excellent reviews for this book, I had high hopes that it would be able to tell me what combination of phone / app to get and then how to use them to enable me to (1) scan a QR code (2) book and pay for cinema tickets so as I only have to point the phone at the kiosk machine for admission (3) book and pay for holiday flights then, on arrival at the airport, load my luggage at the relevant conveyor and point my phone at it to sort out departure (4) watch money going into my account, for example, when another smart phone user buys my car off me. But sadly the book covered none of this. Beautifully illustrated, written in plain English, nicely laid out. Does a great job of showing how to , e.g. , change the appearance of a home screen or colour of the keyboard but does not cover fundamental stuff like what is data and why is buying 160 gigs of it a good thing? Very much a case of style over substance.

This book is written to help people (not shower them in jargon,or heap on unnecessary ideas for further complication)excellent contents & index, this book actually leads you through the interesting origin of 'android'. well worth buying.

Its excellent in answering the questions about what i do not know with android phones . Mynephew is helping me set up my new phone . Also the book has come in useful .

I finally succumbed to needing a smart phone and bought this book to help me get to grips with it. So far I have found it both easy to find what I need and easy to follow. Well recommended
