Lovely book - just what I needed to get started. It’s been years since I last looked at a sewing machine, so I wanted something nice and simple to ease me in, and this was perfect. Nice clear diagrams, easy to follow, and I even found the process of threading the machine and figuring out the bobbin a lot easier than I thought! The book has a pretty selection of projects that aren’t too daunting for a novice. I’ve already made some cute cushions and can’t believe how easy they were – it makes me wish i’d started sewing again sooner! Quite excited to work my way through the rest of the projects...next up a tote bag i think ! Great book, highly recommended.

A little lacking in detail. Enormous amount of project ideas and instructions but not much on the techniques of sewing, nor the operation of the sewing machine itself. Well written, well illustrated, but short on information.

I got this book because we have a sewing machine and never use it, this was really simple to go along with and they had a lot of designes for things and you can always put your own spin on it

I wouldn't call this a "complete guide" in any sense of the words.It's 58 pages, half of which are projects, and the rest a mix of sewing terms, vocab, practice sheets, and then (what I was most looking for) actual instruction. I'm a complete beginner, and this wasn't enough for me to really get going. I would have liked more tutorials on different stitches and techniques and more explaining why. However, sewing seems to be more of a "learn by doing" thing anyway, so I will just dive in with the help of another book I bought. The projects listed look like fun, so I appreciated those.

Bought this for my teen niece as she had asked for a machine for her birthday. She absolutely loved this book – it was really pretty, clear and simple instructions for her to follow, and had lots of lovely items in it she was excited about making. Within an hour she was making herself a skirt and sewing confidently, which was amazing. Great price too!

Perfect for us, Christmas sewing machine and absolutely no experience. Graphics are large and clear as a bell. Used this a mini tutorial at Craftsy covered everything we needed. The projects in the book may be all we ever do, but it's everything we wanted to do so far.

Finally treated myself to a new machine and couldn't wait to get started, but needed a refresher course and some inspiration to get my going. This is a lovely book - really clear and easy to follow illustrations - made threading the bobbin and the machine and figuring out what all the parts do much easier than the confusing manual that came with it ! I've already made 2 bags and 2 cushions - next up , bunting for my baby god daughters room, then a lot of scented hearts for Xmas prezzies....maybe after that i'll tackle the clothes in it ! great book for a beginner or refresher !

Absolute 'con' only for people who are 'clueless; Do not bother it is VERY VERY BASIC and adds very little to the handbook for your machine
