Syma X8HG....😎
The Syma X8HG is a nice candy red good looking drone...first thing is this drone feels solid and not cheaply made like other Syma models..it's a big drone so it's intimidating to take in flight for those who are still amateurs..But I can say it flys real nice...the Headless mode is good for those that are learning to fly a bigger drone...Altitude hold seems to work well if it's not on a bad windy day (not recommended)...but it does hold on a 5 to 10mph winds pretty good..the camera is not the best but it does the job and (No Jello Shaking) in flight so that's a plus..the LED lights are bright and looks real nice night..it also does stunts but make sure the drone is at a good altitude before performing them as this drone is bit heavy..So if your looking for a nice big drone that performs great and don't break the bank then this will be a nice drone to your collection..I also changed the colors of the front propellers and landing legs to a neon green and added a strobe light for night flying for better orientation in flight..

It crashed First flight
took out on first flight and it was responsive in flight until it would not respond to down throttle to land. i gradually held down(not all the way down as that should've triggered motor shut off after 2 seconds) and it went up. so i used direct down for 1 second at a time and it continued going up. so i held it down for about 10 seconds as it continued to go up and up and up, until the mothers shut off and it crashed self destructing on the ground. perhaps it was a fluke on this one. like i said it was an easy flier until i tried to land it. Im returning it as this was a poor investment.

Avoid at all cost
My fiancé Trish purchased the Syma Quadcopter for me as a gift. She first purchased the X8G model, which worked pretty well. The range was not the best, and the battery life wasn’t the greatest but that was to be expected for the price paid. After a few flights, one of the motors failed and the quadcopter took a pretty rough landing, instead of risking another flight I returned it for the upgraded model with the “altitude hold” feature, thinking that I would be able to use it for some light photography. Boy was I in for a horrible surprise! I received the quad and took it to a local college in Soccoro, NM where we were visiting for Christmas and flew it for 3 batteries worth. This went absolutely seamlessly. The quad was responsive, the video was very choppy so I decided to purchase a GoPro mount and have it shipped overnight. The next day I went back and once again it flew great. Very responsive. Well we had to take a drive through the mountains and came to a spot near the top with a fantastic view that I thought would be a great spot for some aerial footage. This is where it all went to hell. I attached my GoPro Hero 4 (which was only 3 weeks old at the time) and took “flight.” AS SOON AS I LAUNCHED the quad went absolutely AWOL. I immediately tried to bring it down but it would not respond to ANY command. It took off on it’s own over the range and I was sure it was going to be lost for good. We immediately got into my truck and drove to the location where I thought it had flown to and gave the controller to my fiancé. I hiked down the hill down into the valley. Luckily it was extremely quiet. Every 5 minutes or so, I would have her turn on the controller and bump the throttle and I would hear the propellers off in the distance. After doing this for about 30 minutes or so we actually found the quad ( how the battery lasted that long is a miracle!) Unfortunately, my brand new GoPro was missing and after searching for another 2 ½ hours was never recovered. So, as you can imagine I am EXTREMELY unhappy with your piece of garbage product since it cost me a GoPro that cost almost $300 MORE than the damn drone! UPDATE: Received an email stating that I received a refund so that should be enough to raise my review. Do they not get the point that their product cost us a $300 GoPro?!?!

Well built -fun to fly
This is my 3rd Syma X8 Drone. I never touched a drone before I received the X8C for my birthday. I lost it in the local river before I understood the importance of flying upwind so it does not drift out of range. I bought a 2nd and lost it (to be returned a month later) when the wind took it out of range into someone's neighbourhood and I couldn't find it. My 3rd go was with the X8HG which offers altitude hold and greatly reduces the amount of effort to fly. I popped a GoPro on instead of the stock camera and use it for movies. I use the X8C when I want to have a bit more challenge. It's a well-built device. I've smashed it into a house, cracked a bit of the frame and applied some tape and it flies just like new. As a relatively inexpensive hobby drone I'd highly recommend.
