Brushed for extra softness, the carhartt brushed-fleece sweatshirt is constructed in a 10.5-ounce, 50% cotton/50% polyester blend (slate heather: 55% cotton/45% polyester) for extra durability. It’s sherpa lined for warmth – including the attached hood with draw-cord closure. Well outfitted, it features a locker loop to facilitate hanging and two front hand-warmer pockets. There’s also a media port and loop that let you string earphones from a media player or phone you’ve stowed in your pocket. The sweatshirt is also engineered with a full-length antique-finish nickel front zipper as well as stretchable, spandex-reinforced rib-knit that retain body warmth.

Looks like a sweater, functions like a jacket!
Great great great!I found this sweatshirt at a local store and lovedo it but they didn't have my size. They told me to go to their online store and I did and found it. But it was more expensive than in store. Then I got curious. I buy a ton of stuff off Amazon and thought...Maybe they have it there. I looked and I found it. $20 cheaper I might add!Took a little longer than two days to get here but we had a lot of snow here in good ol Wisconsin. It has the sherpa lining and since I bought the "New Navy" color, the sherpa is a dark grey color. The inside of the sleeves is that silky lining that you find in most Carhart jackets. I know some reviews were claiming that the "silky" material is not good for keeping warm..but most jackets have this material...sooo I'd say yes it does.It had anot inside pocket that could fit your phone or whatever you need is as higher up (above you belly button) so it'd actually very easily accessible. I keep my cards in there and it was so easy to get to them all throughout the day today. It also has a loop for coat hooks which is always a plus because it makes life just that much easierMy biggest thing with this sweater is that I drive for 6 hours a day..in Wisconsin. I need a jacket but not one that's going to constrict me and limit my arm movement. With this issue, I always found myself wearing sweatshirts and long sleeve shirts as opposed to an actual jacket. When I found this...I was so excited. It looks and moves like a sweatshirt but functions like a jacket. And it is so warm! I wore it today where it didn't get above 20 degrees and found myself actually unzipping it because I was a little too warm. Especially in the "vest" areaI got it in a large which fits perfectly. I am a short woman with a bigger bust size and, yes as I am aware this is a men's jacket technically, I found the large to be a perfect fitIt's a great sweater/jacket and I absolutely love it!If you're debating buying it...let the debate be over! It's amazing!

The best
I LOVE this sweatshirt. Carhartt designates this as a midweight jacket but I live in WI and even in the winter this and a regular shirt or sweatshirt under it keeps me very warm. One of the reasons why, and this is NOT the case with many other products of this type is that the zipper goes all the way up to the hoodie, and so there is NO gap at the top where cold air or wind can enter or blow against my neck. A GREAT item.Adding a comment as of Nov 15, 1916. I CANNOT understand the men who bought this and are whining about the sleeves not having the sherpa lining in them. First of all, Carhartt classifies this as only a midweight sweatshirt. Secondly, and far more importantly, if one is buying a hooded sweatshirt like this to wear out in colder, more wintery weather with only some sort of of short sleeved shirt on underneath it, you deserve to be cold. Any regular long sleeve shirt underneath it makes it plenty warm. And the lining makes it much easier to slide off the jacket. Come on whiners, use a bit of common sense.

Well-Made, but Red color is misleading
The picture for the red-looking one (the "port" color) is VERY misleading. I needed a red jacket for my job. The jacket pictured would have been red enough, but the one I received was a dark purple, almost brown color. The jacket's color description of "port" is very accurate because it's the color of red wine (a purple color actually). Do not buy based off the color of the picture if you specifically need a red jacket for your work. They need to do a better job of representing the colors when they release the photographs, because that matters in some situations. Now I have to deal with what I'm going to do with this one, and I still need to purchase a red jacket. It's quite an inconvenience, and the color is strikingly different (when I received it, I thought they sent the wrong one).As others have mentioned, the sleeves are stiff and silky (a bit of a "miss" on their part). With that said, it's a nice-looking color and a well-made jacket. I would expect nothing less from the Carhartt brand.

What About The Arms??
The product description uses the word warm three time, so I sort of expected a warm sweatshirt. I was really impressed with it's weight when I was opening the package and the thickness of the fleece. I put it on and my arms slid into the lined sleeves with no problem as I expected. Then I went outside to walk the dogs, it was about 40 degrees with a light breeze. Immediately both arms were chilled, the fabric on the sleeve is almost tshirt thin with zero insulation. My chest and back were snug and warm and both arms were uncomfortably cold. I went back inside and put on a long sleeve fleece jacket and put the sweatshirt over it, hmmm not enough room in the sleeve for that, but I wore it outside again just to see if it would help. The sleeves were so tight the insulative property of the fleece was diminished. Cold arms. This morning, just to be fair, I wore my LL Bean sweatshirt (non insulated) with my fleece under it, 30 degree morning, thirty minutes walking with the dogs, wasn't as toasty in the chest and back, but the arms weren't as cold as the Carhart. I'm really disappointed, I wanted this to be my favorite jacket but I'm going to return it and try another manufacturer.

Made for a heavy body.
The jacket itself is incredibly warm and comfortable! Some people complain about the material in the sleeves, but I actually prefer it. The material in the sleeves is slippery, so if you are wearing something long-sleeved under it, the jacket is easy to take off and put on without your clothes getting caught in the sleeves. The zipper is a quality metal zipper, and there is actually a pocket on the inside as well, which is handy. The only thing I don't like about it: It is not made for skinny / lean bodies. If you wear a large, it would easily fit someone who weighs over 260 pounds. I am 5'10" with a 6 foot wingspan. I weight 140 pounds, and I can easily fit both myself AND my wife inside the jacket, zipped up, at the same time. I had to buy the large because the sleeves were too short for me on the medium size.
