Q: Does it have built in spi and dos protection

I'm no expert, but judging from the price point of these routers, I doubt it has Dos protection. It may have SPI, otherwise known as "Dynamic Packet Filtering", but I make no guarantees. You'll need to contact Linksys, or research their routers more deeply to confirm this.

Q: Is this product a good wireless N home Router by Cisco?

Yes it is a good wireless router. N stands for speed 4 times faster than 3G networks. It is switable for home use. 120 means the distance in feet

Q: Can anyone suggest a fair priced router that will get further range as this one does not get to part of my house?

It's called a range extender. I use it I my room for gaming. My main modem is in the downstairs, I have a range extender in my room which is connected directly to a asus router via eithernet. That's a good and fast network.

Hi RosemaryNJ , since wireless signal is subject to wireless interferences, you may try tweaking on the channel settings found on the router's setup page. Just access the setup page through 192.168.1.1, click on the Wireless tab. Look for the channel settings and try changing it to 11,9 3 or 1 (considered as non-overlapping channels).
