UPG 71704 24V 5Ah Charger For AGM, 1 Pack

UPDATE: 8 months in and it still working GREAT, and this set of batteries has months ago outlived the previous set. I'd buy again in a heartbeat.------------- original review -----------This charger is being used to charge a Pride Jazzy Elite with 55 AH batteries.It charges great, and fast, so function is no issue at all. In addition, the cords are long and the build quality high. The case is machined aluminum, and it has a cooling fan which runs in all but the trickle charge mode. This prevents it from getting hot. It also has a rocker on/off switch. Solid.The only problem I had was a shipping error: this charger is made for AGM batteries (90+% of the market) but a GEL battery version was delivered. I called Amazon and 2 days later I had the correct one in hand, and early the next week I had a prepaid shipping label to send the original one back.FIRST CLASS work by Amazon's customer service!!

Replaces my OEM charger for my Jazzy 614HD. Works like a charm and much better than the original. I light the light set up...keeps me more informed of battery condition and charge. Since it's also a trickle charger, I can leave it hooked up without fear of overcharging (and thus shortening the life of) the batteries. If I would have ordered a replacement from Jazzy/Pride, it would have cost me 3 times as much.

I order these hoping that it was going to be the 71704 charger. What I got was the 71698. This is a newer model which should be a good thing. However, I had ordered the 71698 chargers from Universal Power Group directly in December 2020 and every single one of them was defective. I tested them out on new batteries. On the units I got from UPGI, the status LED never switched to solid green or even blinking green as the manual says it should even after running overnight. What's worse is that the voltage was always at the bulk charge level instead of dropping to the float charge level. I had returned them to UPGI who told me that they tested out just fine. Now, by contrast, the ones I got from my Amazon order worked fine.So, warning warning warning. Test these things out carefully. If the status LED never switches to blinking green, return it ASAP.

This was bought as a replacement for a charger that was stolen. It was one of the most expensive 24 volt chargers, but, because it's rated at 5 amps, it re-charges my batteries much faster than my old one. My only complaint is that it doesn't always shut off automatically. So, 4 stars instead of 5. Also, it built much better than my old charger. Sometimes you get what you pay for. I'd buy this again if I needed too. Thanks.(amendment) This charger works really well.! It was a little confusing at first, but it does the job QUICKLY now without any problems. I own a street scooter, btw. It has an audible fan that some may think is loud, but when the fan's off I know it's done. It's extremely well-made too! Five stars now!

We purchased this for our full sized power wheelchair(Quickie S-636). So far, it's performed perfectly. It provides the standard recharge of batteries and also has a maintenance mode to keep a low trickle charge on the battery set. It runs quietly and is small and unobtrusive. We are very pleased so far.

Wow what a surprise! I too needed a replacement for a lost charger from my father's electric wheelchair. I searched all over but just couldn't find the same rating and quality as what his came with. And those that were almost the same were really over priced. I'm so glad I found this one here from a great seller at a great price. I ordered Friday night and got it Thursday morning, fast! What a surprisingly fast, smooth purchase. This charger is really nice! We're very pleased, thanks!

This product was extremely disappointing. I haven't even owned it for a year and the fan started making terrible noises and would no longer charge my batteries. I was hoping if I spent the extra money that I would get a better product that would last longer but I was wrong. Guess I will stick to the cheapies in the future (I have one from a different manufacturer that is 10 years old and is still working fine). And avoid UPG products altogether. I bought a set of batteries for my mobility scooter from UPG and they did not last a year either. I have bought cheaper batteries that have lasted 5 years or longer. Extremely disappointed in UPG products in general.

Item was not as described in the picture. It was in fact a different charger that I received. 2 months down the road for unknown reason it stops working, wouldn’t recommend.
