The glass jar looks safe and useful enough. I am suspicious because the lid on the left comes with this jar. That lid is described as a 'band and lid' on the Amazon site, but is not that at all. The one on the right is a proper band and lid. This item as supplied will NOT work inside a typical hot water canning bath to seal and sterilize. The lid is further described as 'one piece' on the site, which is true, but what is not true is that you cannot properly can anything this way. It is unsafe. To make it work, I had to order a full set of the lids on the right, which is an extra expense I don't feel is right. I ordered 48 of these jars and feel I should return them or get credit for the extra $25 I had to spend to make the jars useful.

Not only did one jar arrive broken somehow as seen in the photo because they were packed very well, but the regular canning rings I had did not fit the jars. We lost 2 jars of tomatoes while canning because the rims came off and couldn't use 2 others because the rims did not fit...it was like they were stripped. I know these were cheap, but nothing else was available. I'm sure these would be fine for storage or candles, etc. NOT for canning. The lids that came with the jars are not canning lids, but I had purchased regular mouth size lids and rims that should have fit these jars; they advertised as regular mouth canning jars.

There is no way to confirm the lids have sealed. With the two piece, you have the visual security of the lid indention, as well as the confirming "pop". With these lids, you get neither. The only way you know if they sealed, is to try and open them after 24 hours. Unacceptable. I have had to ask friends for their jelly back due to the lids not sealing properly. Very disappointed that Mason would attach their name to this product!Yes, I have ordered lids and bands to replace what I can. Hopefully, I can salvage what I have! Highly disappointed!

Nothing I did not like. Used them to make centerpieces filled with water, silver glitter and crumpled Saran Wrap. They looked like shimmering ice cubes. The beauty was the water did not leak.

I use these jars to pickle peppers and other stuff and also for hot bacon grease. The real jar test is to see if it withstands hot grease from a pan. And they didn't break! Will order more of these soon.

The lids that came with these were one piece, they didn't always seal & rather distressing when you go to the trouble of canning jam and they don't seal. After purchasing 2 part lids and re-processing the jars, they worked fine though. Hence, jars are good, lids suck

My aisle pieces are unfinished but so far looking good. These are unmarked and perfect for crafts. No pesky Ball logo to distract.

Very poor quality jars. Jars had glass flaking off the sides after we sterilized them. They had sharp edges on the bottom from the molding process and lads didn't fit right. No Quality Control!
