Tie stuck to bag will rip bag
The ties are attached to the bags and rip them when you try to take them off. WouldNot buy these again.

temperature is important
these bags work as they should.....I have read a lot of the reviews and after a little experiment i can say that these bags work .....temperature is important.....i first found these while i was working in the local hospital many years ago and thought they were awesome though i never got the privilege of putting them through a wash.....i was the one filling them with nasty linen.....anyway....for those who have had difficulty with the bags "melting away" in their washer and leaving gooey residue behind just remember that most household washers may not be designed to work at the high temperatures that these bags require to melt......luckily i have a washer that has a sanitize option....a normal load takes more than an hour but the temperature of the water is higher than just the hot setting......so if you have a cheaper machine that probably has a "hot" setting.....it's not going to be hot enough.....please take into consideration that the facilities that use these bags have linen in them that are contaminated with nasty contagions that aren't normally seen by usual household washing machines so if your washer does happen to have and "extra hot" setting that is where you want to set it....not just hot.....i bought these bags because i work in a ltc facility and i store my worn scrubs in the bag on the floor in the washroom until it's almost full but it's also right in front of the dryer so i didn't want clean close touching my contaminated scrubs if i drop something while unloading the dryer so now if i drop something it just lands on the bag instead.....the really cool thing is that the bags come with their own tie which is the orange "stripe" on the bag.....i had never paid attention when i used them in the hospital but the tie is there because the bag shouldn't be tied to itself because it may not melt properly.....i hope this helps to clear any confusion and bad reviews of these bags as I find them indispensable right now .

Will not recommend. Does not dissolve.
This product is supposed to dissolve in the washer, but this one just shrinks and after every wash you have to remove all of the shrunken bags from between your clothes. I used one that worked well, so I know this is not the real thing.

Not totally water soluble
I tried these bags for a few washes and found that while the bags were mostly water soluble, there were stringy, gummy clumps of residue from the bags throughout the laundry afterward (this was whether I washed in hot or cold water). Once put into the dryer, the clumps would harden into the material of the laundry (blankets were the worst). This got better with subsequent washes without the bag, but makes the bags too much of a pain to use in the washing machine. Also, I found the gummy residue that got flushed out of the machine into the sink built up around my sink drain. Thank goodness I was able to de-tangle it from the drain cover before is went down the pipes.I would not recommend these bags for home use.
