I have an older mower (YTH22V42LS). The shaft and small gear are one piece. So I was not able to use the small gear.The shaft was sloppy so I ordered new upper plastic bushing.The issue I have with this kit is my older mower has a plastic lower bushing. They have since upgraded to a metal one with a bearing. I have ordered a new one. I feel that it should be part of the kit. Sloppiness at the lower gear literally make the entire system stop working.I’m hoping with the new bearing and new larger gear it will tighten things up. If it’s still sloppy, I will order a newer shaft and use the smaller gear that came with this set.

Every once in awhile you get a non OEM replacement part that is better than the original this is the case with this product. Thicker metal, beefier pinion,and a perfect fit for my Craftsman yts 3000 riding mower.UPDATE: I have found that the bolt comes loose from the nut. The spacer bushing works as intended but I will be upgrading to a LockNut or even longer bolt that I will drill and cotter pin. Had I not noticed the steering suddenly getting very loose and the pinion "zipping" across the rack, I could have lost the bolt while mowing! Watch your's carefully and check every mow!

The product is definitely an upgrade but does not fit the Craftsman 50" lawn tractormodel number 917251560. Other than that; customer service, shipping time, etc... was all exceptional.
