Is this thick enough to block sunlight

Hello. I have only set the screen up as a backdrop against a wall. I can say that the material is fairly tightly woven though. To test for light-blocking capability I held the screen in front of a window receiving indirect light, and I was able to register faint light passing through. If the material was doubled up it just might block sunlight but it is not like black-out curtains.

Can you spray paint on this fabric?

Yes you probably could. You can spray paint on anything really but it may not wash out.
