What is the outside diameter of the threads for this connector? I am looking for a fitting to install in a 7/8” hole.

Nope! They will not work! they are quite literally 1/2 inch. the 7/8 hole needs a 7/8 fitting. 7/8 is an odd measurement but my outlet(Hubbell 250v) claims "1/2 " knock out" but it, in fact is not. in fact I had to return these! get a box of grommets of varying sizes and you will come out with at least some of them correct!

how many 12/2 cables can go through each of these clamps?

I used these for a 12/3 which they worked well for. It would be possible to get two 12/2s through the opening, but tightening it down with the screws would be difficult as the screws are barely long enough for the extreme opening.

does it fit a Romex 6/3?

This connector may be too small/tight to fit 6/3 WG Romex. If it was me, I would use a 3/4 “ ROMEX Connector…

Are these supposed to actually be 1/2 trade size as listed? I see a few people getting 3/8 in reviews.. is that fixed?
