AirTamer A310 Personal Air Purifier Necklace

I wrote this review originally for the A302. I switched to the A310 about a year ago, mainly for the convenience of USB recharging instead of having to keep buying batteries. Otherwise the story is the same: Here's my complete factual experience with this product. You can draw your own conclusions. I originally bought the Airtamer for use on airplanes, as most do. I have flown Delta and American, and there has never been an issue with wearing it. Before I bought it I used to get sick regularly after traveling. In the years since I bought it, this has never happened again. I am also a teacher and getting older and more prone to illness. Four years ago I got sick 5 times during the school year. Three years I got sick 5 times before Christmas. So, I decided to try wearing the Airtamer at school as well as on airplanes, and began Jan. 1, 2014. As of Dec. 3, 2014, I have not had a cold since (knock wood!). I also noticed that, since I started wearing it daily, my usual allergies have been diminished. I find that if I have an allergy attack and turn on the Airtamer, the attack usually goes away with 10 minutes, often less. **Update 2/7/16: It has been more than 2 years now since I started wearing this every day. I'm superstitious and don't want to jinx it, so I'll just say that the story I tell above, as it relates both to allergies and to lack of illness, is, so far, unchanged.

I first started using a personal air purifier many years ago while traveling and found it to be highly effective. No post flight dryness or upper respiratory problems. And with the crappy recycled air on planes, I feel confident I won’t get someone else’s virus. I work in medicine and wear it daily to keep my pt’s illnesses away from me. I had a different manufacturer before with a unit that took batteries ( which is went thru like crazy)but this is a much better unit being rechargeable . I have recommended it to many people who travel a lot or are around sick people.

I think this works -- I can't really tell. I flew SFO to ZUR + trains. busses and boats . I wore it primarily on the plane and in tight crowded locations - not everyday. But didn't get sick, so it MAY be due to the Air Tamer...but could also be general health and supplements. I WISH I knew for sure it made a difference, but was happy to stay healthy. I DO like that it's easy to recharge and lasts quite a while - over a day without recharging.

Silent and functions as promised.

I took this on a trip to Disney World and wore it on both my 5 hour flights as well as in the parks. It took some getting used to at first because it doesn't eliminate smells or really change anything about your experience traveling. BUT, psychologically I did feel that the air felt cleaner and it put me at ease walking in and out of all the gross bathrooms as well as through crowds (I'm used to holding my breath and walking around coughs/sneezes!). It was easy to charge it using my phone plug USB adapter and then flip the switch and put it around my neck for the day. I will say, I'd avoid wearing any other necklaces, because my gold chain ended up rubbing and giving me a rash the first day--but that was also because of the heat/walking around. I did forget to wear the air tamer one of the days, but I also didn't get sick. So my overall consensus is that I will be taking this on every trip from now on!

I am returning this item. It does not perform as stated - not even close. I tested it. I have another personal air purifier. I've had it for so many years, I decided to purchase a new one - just in case. My old one was from a company that is no longer carrying this item. So in search of one to replace it, I found this one. The description of performance sounded just like my old one but it wasn't close. How can I tell? This claims to push the allergens away from my breathing zone, just like my old one did. So I tested it in a stream of smoke. (Just to be sure the smoke wasn't too heavy, I also just the mist from an essential oil diffuser.) Turn it on, hold it near the smoke - nothing. I did the same thing with my old item and I could easily see the stream of smoke be pushed away. Easy test.

I think this is a VERY PRACTICAL way to protect yourself when out and around in the public during these times. I have had a high propensity for getting respiratory infections and sinus infections for the past 50 yrs, yes I am a senior and am thus a high risk for COVID. I went to the sunrise service on Easter, and because it was so early I was not all together in my thinking and realized 1/2 way to church in another town, I had forgotten my personal air purifier. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME IN OVER A YEAR I WOULD BE AROUND ALOT OF PEOPLE. It turned out to be 600 people. A couple days later I was feeling really bad, I immediately put this on and wore it for 2 days solid, and did not have anything but a few symptoms of a flu or cold. When I went to bed I made sure it was in a good position to keep me constantly protected. Before COVID I volunteered at the elementary school as a reader WAS CONSTANTLY GETTING SOME SORT OF RESPIRATORY THING ~ THE KIDS ARE ALWAYS SICK ANY MORE! I look forward to the time I work with kids again and I suspect I will not get sick at all or very little.

It actually does reduce particulate matter decently I tested it with a meter but it it is very expensive and stops taking a charge after a short period of time. I had my first one for only a couple months and it would no longer take a charge. I went through the warranty process and the same thing happened in a few month. If they made these things more durable it might be worth the price.

I do notice a difference when I'm wearing this device. I wish the cord looked more attractive and I should have purchased the white model and not the black. Everyone thinks I'm wearing a recording device so I'm explaining a lot. I find it looks ridiculous with my necklaces and dressy clothing but I wear it anyway. I find it's helpful for musty situations, pollen and even being around people who wear too many perfume or essential oils. You still smell them but it's not overpowering anymore. The unit doesn't work great on smoke but given the size you can't expect it to do everything. I do wish there was a little fan so the cleaner air would be circulated around my mouth and nose but I imagine that would make noise. I like how silent this device is. You can't hear a thing unless you put it up against your ear and then you hear the faintest push sound. I can use it beside my bed at night and not hear a thing. The light on the back makes use at night slightly less enjoyable but I put a piece of electrical tape over it and that solves that problem. The cord is the biggest con. It's ugly and doesn't feel the best against the skin. Kind of like carrying a used rope around your neck but you get used to it quickly. Wish there was a clip on the rechargeable version like there is on the battery powered one. Or at least the option. If it had a clip on the back of the unit I could clip it to my collars and hide the cord under my clothing for more discreet use. If you're expecting to a shot of crystal clean oxygen your expectations are too high. If you want something to help make life a bit more bearable when suffering from allergies it's worth every penny. Con: Cord is unsightly, no clip, stands out when wearing Pro: Silent, rechargeable, lightweight, works as an excellent aid

The purifier comes charged and I haven’t had to charge it since. Bought these for myself and family it is handy and light weight on the neck, peace of mind a little extra protection against pollutants and pollens when out. A bit pricey though.

I suffer from a lot of Rhinitis and sereve allergy from cigarette smoke, pollution, strong aerosol smells. I bought this Airtamer. I really works...I wish I had this device all my life. Yesterday I walked on a busy polluted street for half an hour with the Airtamer around my neck, I did not have to take an antiallergy pill or spray yesterday. Odours and strong smells do not go away, but somehow I did not fall ill. I guess it prevents harmful irritants from entering the nostrils. Thank you Airtamer....Highly recommend.

Having this product reassures us that the air we are breathing is healthy, especially important whilst we are in a pandemic.

Have received the Air Tamer A310 a couple of days back and have started using it immediately. Haven’t observed any change so far. Don’t know if it has helped. Waiting for some more time to find out if at all it does what it proclaims.
