I’m using this book with my instructor and really enjoying it.

Here we have great mandolin tunes like somewhere my love, volare, and other great tunes that are a lot of fun to play and a lot of fun to learn from

I'm trying to remember that this book is targeted to new mandolin players who probably have experience with other instruments. I like that it has chord voicings. Though I can figure out voicings on my own and like to map out various possibilities, it's nice from the get-go to be given common ones. The tablature can make it quick to pick things up, but not having the notation actually cripples the longer-term learning. Tablature seems nice because it's a quick start method, but notation actually teaches people their instrument faster, and not having that hurts the student in the long-run.I must say I simply disagree with a lot of the note choices and voicings used. I had a mandolin a long time ago and taught myself songs. (I was already pretty proficient with other instruments.) Some of those songs are here in this book. Sorry, but the way I play the songs both sounds better and is more accurate.That being said, this book is currently being sold for $14, and I think that is a darn decent price. It's not a perfect book, but it does give you enough information to make the purchase worthwhile.

Songs are easy to play (tab) and well arranged. There’s a great selection—a little bit of everything. Even if you only end up learning a few of the songs, it’ll be worth the money.

Easy to follow as a completely new player fair bit of songs I like

A chordsheet with lyrics for each song should have been included. The sheet music would also be a plus, and that it wasn’t included is a surprise. The tablature is useful for beginners, but its layout is best read in portrait mode on an ipad, and who wants all that tab taking up the screen when playing the song?

Songs are fun to play. Songs have options to increase the difficulty or can play a basic melody that actually sounds like the song.

50 songs aimed at playing on the mandolin, some easy, others a challenge. If you either play mandolin or want to give it a try this could be for you, check out the songs in the book, and see how many you know or want to know.I personally love it.
