Although I am sure the measure works quite well,but it is not compatible with an older person,even younger I suppose.The text was so tiny and poorly printed, I could not read the instructions, I had to use large magnifying glass, text still hard to read.The control digits so small hard to use them.For me the screen was tiny.The whole thing would be good for a Hobbit. I wanted to use this outdoors, but the laser is very hard to spot in daylight, and the device needs a really good reflective surface to bounce the light off. It is fine indoors.I can't comment on accuracy at long range, but it seems to match the tape measure for smaller distances, and you can calibrate it + / - 7mm if not.I found the function selection and activation buttons confusing and difficult to use while trying to line up the measure with the distance to be measured.The instructions are very much still in Chinese even though the words are English. Nothing makes much sense.The settings menu lets you turn off the backlight, which makes the display invisible (!). Then the only way to turn it on again is to press the right buttons in the correct timed sequence and hope you are backto the menu that turns the backlight back on! An incredibly stupid "feature".I'd put this down as more of a toy than a seriously useful object.
