Do I need a charger for the battery? I don't see a cable to charge it with.

The Brother PA-BU-001 Optional Battery Unit can be charged with the AC Adapter and AC Power Cord that come with either the Brother QL-810W or QL-820NWB label printer. To fully charge the PA-BU-001 battery unit it must be installed in the label printer, and will take approximately 2.5 hours.

Where is the serial number located I can't find it anywhere?

The serial number for the PABU001 battery is under the battery. The serial number will start with a U6 number.
