Do you need special housing?

This blade works only with the Cricut Maker machine, not any of the earlier models. This blade fits into the housing that comes with that machine.

This is the actual Rotary Blade with Quickswap Housing. The Cricut Rotary Blade kit is a replacement kit if you already have this product and need to replace your blade.

Will the Explore Air 2 cut fabric without the rotary cutting tool?

This rotary blade tool is only for the Cricut Maker machine. The Air 2 can cut material with the bonded fabric blade, but you would need to stabilize the fabric before cutting.

Must Have for DIYers

I ordered this after trying (and failing) to cut felt with the fine point blade on my Maker 3. I was frustrated because all the material said I could use the fine point blade for felt and it was a disaster! Once I got the rotary blade it was perfect! Clean, neat cuts every time! I think the blade was discounted when I ordered it, so I felt the price was very reasonable. I have used the blade a lot of felt and it still works well.
