EdgeStar CRF150SS-1 - Compact Refrigerators

i am an over the road truck driver and i got sick of gaining weight and eating out of truck stops eating god knows what at what sodium level i then tried the ready meals that all you do is heat up and the sodium levels for my health do not justify so i spend several day looking at and studying what other drivers have been using and there was many that used coolers but have to buy ice daily maybe several times a day i then found this fridge and just had to buy it i received it fast and it was well packaged it is small and good quality i have now had it in my truck for a couple moths and its a great little fridge i can fit a surprising amount in it i run it by using my 1500 watt inverter that is directly attached to the batteries and the company i work for does not allow idle at certain times ive had my truck off nine hours many times with just the fridge pulling juice from the batteries and my truck starts up no problemsthe locking feature on this fridge is amazing a simple turn of the Allen key style key and its locked or unlocked, the food i can carry now is healthier broccoli and chicken salad dressings and my breakfast shakes all ice cold and fresh this is a real fridge with a compressor at a smaller scale i have recommended this to several of my truck driving friends and good news i have so far lost 20 pounds just from buying this product and filling it with the good healthy food i can be eating at home

I purchased this mini freezer because I didn't really need a large one. It freezes items more coldly than my Kenmore full size freezer! I purchased this mainly to preserve vegetables that can't be canned andit takes two days to defrost a one quart bag! I have placed chicken of the woods mushrooms in it and they freeze wonderfully and stay fresh. The unit freezes quickly, doesn't seem to take much power, is very well insulated and quiet. I could not have made a better freezer purchase, the price was right and he size is perfect. The only thing to be aware of is I is not a self defrosting freezer. I have had it for about nine months and there is some frost building up which I think comes from when I am placing new items to be frozen in the unit. It looks pretty easy to defrost. I will place a puppy pad under the unit and leave the door open with a towel. Then I can wash it out with cleaner and it will be ready to freeze items within an hour. This was a great investment as all of my vegetables have stayed fresh and don't have that freezer burn or taste.

I bought this product on a Friday and received it the following Tuesday; pretty fast I think for the size of the package. But the only shipping option the merchant made available for this compact freezer is some $65 fedex crap. So the lack of realistic shipping rates or amazon's phenomenal free shipping makes this cost just about the same as competing $190 freezers.I'm not disappointed however, the price was too good to be true for this product as it is everything it says to be. I plugged it in 3 hours ago and it has already frozen my h20 cubes rock hard in the included cube tray. The entire thing is pretty light and fits aesthetically under my desk.The lock is pretty dinky, still allowing the door to be opened a half-inch when locked. I'm guessing this is for child-safety because there were a lot of pamphlets included on keeping children away so they don't become entrapped in the freezer.... Anyway the keys work and it's not something that can be easily picked without force.It also gives off an ambient hum. Too early to say if it will become annoying.

What a great little fridge/freezer. I bought this to put in my tool trailer so I can quit buying ice everyday. This little gem uses hardly any electricity at all, I have this running off a 3000 watt inverter along with all my other stuff. I can not even see the difference in the battery drain with this running and the solar charger keeps batteries topped off all day. Even with temperatures inside closed trailer at 97 today, my drinks inside are at a nice chilly 35 degrees. I did have to play with the thermostat some to find desired setting. I am using the refrigerator and not freezer. It is also very quiet, I have to put my hand on it to even see if it is running. I have only had this in for 2 days but I will see how it works when temps climb in to the hundreds here.Shipment was very fast, arrived 2 days early. Also the packaging is great, when I first saw the box at my door it was almost totally destroyed. But thankfully when I opened it there was another box inside, nice foam blocking at the corners with a few inches of space between the boxes. Curious to know what happened I watched my surveillance cameras only to find Fed Ex was not very careful with the box and literally threw it on my porch. Obviously more damage was done during their package processing and I will be taking that up with them.

I am a techy so I put a continuous temperature monitor inside this refrigerator. The temperature swing is 10 degree farenheit. REFRIGERATORS according to FDA should be kept at 40F or less. So with a 10 degree range, that is impossible, because if the range is 30-40F, then your food will freeze. I called EDGESTAR and they said the PRODUCT IS MANUFACTURED to have a 5-10F range. So if this is just a beer or soda fridge it is okay, but it is not okay for perishable food!! I WAS ABLE TO GET A REFUND without issue.
