JVC HA-NC120 Noise-canceling Headphones, Standard Packaging

I was a bit skeptical that this product would work because of the price. Its a lot cheaper than the noise/cancel headphone of the other brands. I used it in a couple of long flights [went halfway around the world]. I'm impressed. It lowered the ambient noise of the 747's such that I could watch movies in relative quiet. Previously, I've never been able to watch movies in these flights because the cabin noise made it really difficult to hear the movies sound, and those were times when I brought my own headphones [but didn't have the noise cancel function].This headphone is also sturdy and folds flat. Easy to travel with.My only complaint is that the cord, which retracts into the headphone, barely reaches if you sit in one of those 'Comfort' seats on Delta. The headphone outlet is on the seat in front of you, which is a bit of a reach. The cord will reach, but there's little slack. Still a 5 out of 5 for price/performance/convenience.

I bought my first pair of these in a store, and liked them so much that I bought a 2nd pair for my wife here on Amazon. However, after about 6 months of use the plastic where the headband meets the earmuff started to crack. I fixed it with superglue for a while, but eventually it totally disintegrated. I would have written it off as bad luck, but now the same thing is happening to the 2nd pair. I'm not rough with them, they sit on my desk at work and basically only go on and off my head. Its too bad, because I really liked the noise-canceling feature.

I own a pair of Bose noise canceling headphones but find them bulky to travel with. I ordered these specifically for travel on airplanes. I love some of the features: The fold up small enough to go into my purse. They come with a small black bag to carry them in. And the retractable cord is great. My only con is that they don't cancel as much noise as my Bose headphones. But for the price, I'm happy.

I was thrilled when I purchase the JVC HA-NC120 headphones. They were my first real noise cancelling headphones and had been purchased for our trip. They really did sound great on the plane and everywhere else. Unfortunately, after less than 20 hours of use, my wife pulled the set out of its pouch one day and found the earpiece to be hanging by the cord. The joint between the earpiece and the headband had snapped off. Granted, I understand these things aren't supposed to take constant abuse, but carrying it in a handbag where it might be jostled, shouldn't cause it to snap off. Reporting the incident to JVC was met with deaf ears...they just didn't see it as a manufacturers defect. The best that they could offer is to sell me a new one. Now why would I want to buy a new one and possibly experience the same issue? Will not be buying JVC again.

I've had two pair of these. One I lost and second was destroyed by my son. The quality of both the sound and the noise cancelling feature are excellent at these price point. The retractable cord feature is fantastic for clean and simple storage.Don't hestitate to buy these

Even though these were relatively inexpensive, they were definitely not worth it. I purchased these as a replacement to my HA-NC 100 models that my son broke for me.The HA-NC120s noise cancelling feature was lacking at best. I would venture to say that it was non-existent. And yes, I did put the batteries in them.The ear cups didn't even cover my ears. The sat on top of them and were comfortable, but that is not was I was going for.I will buy the HA-NC100 off of ebay since they are the only site that has them listed as being available.I would not under any circumstance recommend these headphones to anyone.

I was expecting these to be merely serviceable and comfortable given the under $40 price. In fact, I've been more than happy with my purchase decision.These headphones are perfect for my transcription side job, which I do from home. They cancel out the sounds of my neighbors, my fiancée and friends watching football, and the whining of cats.An ON/OFF switch on the sets strengthens the cancellation of ambient noise. When you switch it on, it honestly sounds like you turned up the volume inside the headphones significantly.There is a cool retractable cord feature helpful for swift folding and returning to the carrying bag (dust and scratch protective) included.Finally, they are super soft from the bottom of your ears to the top of your head due to double foamed cushioning. Who doesn't love soft?!

A trusted brand, with enough other products I've used to go with instinct. While I don't like complete over-ear coverage. I needed enough to at least 'seal' over the main part and be comfortable. I hate earbuds so I prefer something of this nature. I like the fact that they fold up for easy storage, and have volume control as well as the noise cancelling feature. Very disappointed in the latter, though, as it barely seems to perform the very function it's advertising. My work requires filtering out a lot of ambient noise for pinpointing dialogue and background noise at exact moments, and I sleep next to a snorer. So.. have to say I now know why these were a little less expensive than some of the other ones I looked at, but still a little too spendy for what they are. Size and articulation are what I wanted, but barely keeps the extra noise out.

The only positive thing I can say is that the headphones are very light and the sound is ok.As for the negatives:* The noise cancellation is hardly noticeable, and I am convinced about 90% of the noise cancellation is simply insulation. Turning ANC on or off has almost no noticeable effect (and yes, the batteries are in and working).* The frame is very fragile. The speakers are very loosely attached to the frame and one side was even broken out of the box, where it would always freely rotate and no longer connect (except by the wires) to the frame. I used hot glue to put it back together, and guess what... it broke in a different spot the next day!
