Does this filter include ion exchange to remove heavy metal ions?  Perhaps a question to be answered by the manufacturer.

The premium carbon block will REDUCE heavy metal ions.

I have not purchased this item, but am definitely considering it with my next replacement. I did a little research on NSF certification and here's the scoop in a nutshell.
The NSF 42 standard relates to a water filter’s ability to remove chlorine from water. However, NSF 42 certification does not include the harmful chlorine by-products.
Like many standards, water filters can meet or exceed this standard to different levels of effectiveness. NSF 42 is a base line of chlorine reduction.
The NSF 53 & NSF 58 safety standards includes the structural integrity, material safety, and the contaminate reduction performance claims.
The removal rate of water filters that meet this standard can vary. The NSF standard means that the water filter meets a minimum threshold or effectiveness.
These contaminants include: Lead, Cryptosporidium, Giardia, Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether (MTBE)
NSF 53 typically relates to water filters that use carbon absorption as a means of filtration.
NSF 58 relates to water filters that use a membrane, like reverse osmosis systems (RO).
If a filter is both NSF 53 & NSF 58 certified, then it uses both carbon and membrane means for filtering contaminants.

For these Waterdrop filters, they explicitly outlined all the details of each filter.
The standard carbon block is good for 6 months (300 gallons) and is essentially NSF 42 certified:
Filters out Chlorine (taste and odor)
Reduces Cysts and Benzene
Reduces Pesticides & Tetrachloride Chemicals.

The Premium carbon block is good for 12 months (600 gallons) and is essentially NSF 42 & NSF 53 certified (matching the Samsung specs)
Does everything the standard block does plus:
Reduces Heavy Metal Ions
Reduces Asbestos
Restrains e.coli and other Bacteria

I highly doubt that they would false advertise the capability of their products, especially since it's safety related, and it's against certification standards.
When I buy these for my next replacement, I'm definitely going to go with the Premium Block, especially since it matches the Samsung specs (NSF 42 & NSF 53 certification).
