Sauder Eden Rue Rolling Chest, White Plank finish

This chest is PERFECT! No it's not solid oak or some other "quality wood" but this sucker is heavy and sturdy! The way it is assembled is fantastic. Not your traditional cheap assembly like things you find from Walmart. I too disliked the chicken pattern and painted the panels teal with spray pant the day before I assembled it. I love that the wheels only roll one way because I have a 9 month old who pulls himself up on the table. It's perfect to roll it out of the way to vacuum but stays in place while he is learning to walk and stand! The sharp edges worry me, but it's something that poses potential issue with my family, not the product itself. It has SO much storage inside! We have always used a chest to store board games in our living room, it even holds my daughters ginormous home made board game!. Love the style! No it's not real planks, not sure what people were expecting at this price point! lol but the siding is pretty and most importantly EASY TO CLEAN vs "real planks". I'm currently looking for a pretty antique lock to put on the chest to add a little more feminism to the piece to add more balance to it, but overall love the design!

If you enjoy DIY projects that come with dozens and dozens (and dozens) of parts, this is the coffee table for you. I can't overstate just how many pieces there are to this thing, but maybe the fact that the instruction manual has "you can do it, moron!" types of inspirational quotes scattered throughout will give you at least minimal context. (My personal favorite: Rome wasn't built in a day, but this can be!) Oy.PROS1) The chicken panels can be reversed so long as you don't mind the screw heads showing. (See photo)2) There is plenty of storage space.3) It's a good sized coffee table.4) It's doable if you have a) patience in abundance and b) an interest in DIY projects.CONS1) I do NOT have a) patience in abundance and b) an interest in DIY projects. I would have sent this back the second I unboxed all its seemingly endless parts had my cousin not agreed to assemble it for me. He's good with stuff like this so it took him under an hour to do.2) It's a bit too tall; it sits higher than my sofa does.3) The brown top looks too modern and polished for the rustic body; this storage table would look better IMO if the top was given a weathered appearance.

I’m glad I read the reviews so I knew not to expect actual plank wood because I would have been disappointed. This was the most complicated piece of furniture I have ever put together. It took me about 2-3 hours by myself. But, it was worth it. It was packaged really well - absolutely no damage to any of the pieces. This is a nice, sturdy piece that works well for a family with children. I don’t like to spend a lot of money on things when I know they will probably get damaged. I love that the hinges prevent the top from closing on its own so there won’t be any pinched fingers in our house. It’s a nice size. The only negative is that the trim pieces around the bottom edge were difficult to get on and I was never able to tighten them all the way. I may need to reinforce them with some wood glue.As long as you know what you’re actually buying, this is a 5 star product.

Love this as our new coffee table! The directions were great, very detailed, and actually had some cute little words of encouragement as you went along (it's the little things :). It's very heavy and even though I'm not a fan of particle board, this is very sturdy. The top is beautiful. The lid stays open at any angle, which is nice when filling. We are a 'throw blanket' loving family, and I was able to store 4 throws and 2 king sized fleece blankets with room for probably 3-4 more throws... AWESOME! I flipped the sides, as others have, so the chickens are inside, and it looks great. Like others, while I love wheels, I'm not that much a fan of these only rolling one way and not locking in place, but for $16, I just ordered swivel casters with locks, so no biggie, I'll just replace them. Overall, I absolutely love it, and am so happy I bought it!

I’m so glad I bought this!! Looks just like the pics & was easy to put together, everything lined up perfect & had no problems at all. Instructions were some of the best I’ve seen for assembly furniture!! The wheels are top quality & way better than expected. The chicken theme end panels wouldn’t go with my decor. I just turned them around & now it’s the same wood look pattern as the front & back!! Very sturdy & solid piece of furniture. We’re using it as a coffee table in the back family room, for the grandkids to do puzzles & games on. Love that we can just lifting the lid & put them away when their done.... just note that the wheels only allow it to roll back and forth & it isn’t real wood planks, it’s press board with laminate, which wasn’t a problem for me!! I love it & really is a well crafted piece of furniture!!

I was looking for the "farmhouse style". This had the wheels which I was looking for also. I could not have put it all together by myself. Needed help laying it down and attaching the lid. I did not put the bottom trim on correctly the first time as I was thinking it should hang down and it needed to be even. I am thinking I will be looking for new wheels as all 4 wheels are fixed to only go back and forth and I would prefer they swivel. I did not use the rooster side boards. I flipped them so I have white all around, but that leaves the connectors exposed. I was also thinking from the pictures real wood but this is a laminated board, but I am good with it. It looks good. It is holding my blankets.

I really like this table. For assembled furniture it is really sturdy, has great hardware and wasn’t hard to follow the directions. The directions/instructions have humorous notes in them - which makes reading them funny. I used a cordless drill but very carefully. I only needed a Phillips screwdriver and a rubber mallet. Overall I am very pleased with this table. Like others I didn’t leave the chicken panels on the outside. I will use my Cricut machine to cut out some circles to cover the “hidden” cams. You’ll know what I’m talking about if you buy this table.

Additional info:The wheels on this unit are not the super high end ones which have a lock or do 360 turns. For the most part, it's not a problem because I anticipate rarely moving it up to the dinner table to accommodate additional guests (you will have to slightly lift up one end and rotate it or the chest only moves in a straight line). Also, the top of my chest looks pretty, but had 2 slight scratches from the shipping. I'm a fan of the distressed look so this isn't a dealbreaker. The seller did provide good info on the package stating the manufacturer's contact should you want replacement parts.Overall, I'm glad to get the look without paying $600 or whatever a Restoration Hardware type store would want for aged wood and rusted metal, and fancier wheels.----Original review:Beautiful when assembled! Delivery was a bit of a gong show and I was left wondering if I was ever going to get it, but I did after running around with Amazon, the seller, and the courier. The courier company used doesn't have real time tracking so I had no updates for a week and had to trust it was vaguely coming in about 7 to 10 days. Then an update on TForce's website said it was in my city. However, it next says they tried delivering but the door was not open. It was a chaotic mess with me having to take a day off work and calling the courier company twice to make sure they were indeed delivering. At first, they couldn't even locate the item in their warehouse. On my second call they said delivery would be today, and it did arrive. Not good for confidence especially as I don't recognize this courier company/ brand. Hence, I have to give 4 stars and not 5. Also, the photo makes the item looked like rustic/ distressed wood, it is actually plywood with a really nice graphic print. I have to give credit for Sauder for making a product with excellent hardware and an excellent instruction guide though! The assembly went without a hitch and I didn't feel like the screws and metal hardware were cheap and poorly made. You aren't ask to deal with 300 pieces or use glue! As you can probably guess, I am a seasoned flatpack furniture fanatic, having tried a lot of different brands and products.It looks good in the living room or bedroom! I followed another reviewer's tip and assembled it with the chicken and eggs on the inside (I might have been Ok with 1 chicken on the outside but the actual design is for 2, which would have been more than I wanted! So you can customize/ upgrade the look a bit by hiding the chicken. Also makes for something your friends can laugh about! After I built it, my neighbor came to check it out, and he was certainly in for a surprise!Another cool thing about it: I can use it for storage or extra seating (treat it as a bench).

Was so impressed with this table / chest that i looked forward to leaving this review. The assembly instructions were clear, the materials and hardware were top quality, made in the USA, your end result will be a sturdy high quality piece of furniture.Happy I chose it!
